Thank you.. I just did it and it was worked.. everyone is not computer savvy. So I appreciate things like this because they are easy to do and direct to the point. Hope you make more videos.
Thanks - top man! Just got a huge LCD TV and have spent a day or so setting up the DVD, Amp, Cable box etc, and your demo for notebook to streaming subscription TV took two minutes - excellent.
Great video. We were trying to figure out how to get the video to show on TV. You showed us by accident I think. We are grateful!!! Maybe do a video just showing that simple step. Dragging on laptop to get it to appear on tv. I'm sure others are trying to figure this out too. Thumbs up! keep up the Great work. Rando
Thanks, Dave. Your teaching style is clear and succinct. I have subscribed to your channel because I'm sure I will be back to draw on more of your expertise! Once again, thanks!
Thank you so much for your helpful video. We had set up the HDMI cord but didn't know about the screen resolution and dragging the screen. Thank you so much!
Dominic you need to turn digital audio on. you have to find the option in your video card's menu it lists ports you can turn it on with. In nVidia the heading was gigital audio.
On a windows laptop.... Click volume on your laptop and select the right sound device. The name of your TV should be listed. I mean the volume icon on Windows start menu. Next to WiFi icon. Not the volume on the media player.
Just updated Win 7 64-bit to Win 10. Have HP G61-320US Notebook, Toshiba 32" HDMI TV, Wireless Router TP-Link, HDMI cable properly set-up, I believe. Can you show proper settings for everything to work correctly, utilizing my TV as a monitor for my laptop--usually how I work. Need Time settings for battery and plugged in, closing the lid of my laptop, screen resolution, and anything else you deem necessary. I usually keep pc plugged in and use TV as monitor. I am signed up for your mailing "Ask Dave Taylor," but haven't seen this explained. Thank you.
Dave, I have an HDTV, but right before HDMI. Can I hook up my laptop to the TV with a mixed cable?? HDMI (computer) to component video and digital audio (TV)
If my HP Pavilion 23 PC doesn't have an HDMI outlet in back, is there an adaptor to connect it to my HDMI TV using the cable I purchased with HDMI on each end?
graphic card is everything, some TV's are not compatible with the resolution that the graphic card is able to handle and the opposite is also true. Drivers could be the problem some times, but most of the time is a hardware problem.
Can you help me? I have a hdmi to vga cable and followed your instructions to extend to desktop and set then tv to hdmi 1, yet as much as I try.. the TV display keeps saying no video signal. Please could you help me? Thank you
I am new to HULU, signed up only to find out I cant view it on my TV as I have DISH and it is not supported, but I do have a lap top with a HDMI, so I can hook it up, log into HU:LU and I should be able to view it, is that correct? love the video. Bob
Hi Dave...very helpful..Can you tell me, after the laptop is connected to the TV by way of HDMI, how can I get sound to come through my stereo system? Namely my Bose surround sound stereo?
How do u keep it playing movies while streaming from a website and be able to close the computer? I don't wanna watch a movie with an extra screen of the same thing but smaller lol
Hii, I tried to connect my laptop to my Sony LED TV through HDMI cable, but not getting connected. My query,is whether, any special HDMI cable does it require to do this function or what? And please help me for getting connected.
The fact that you can do this ive been doing it for years makes me wonder why smart tv's even exist i will assume its because not everyone is what you would call tech savy
Hi there :) I'm planning to stream an online live stream show from my laptop on the tv however my laptop has a time restriction that cuts off before the end of the live stream that I can't override because I have forgotten the administrative password! If the computer locks me out, will the TV continue the stream or will the tv show a locked out screen as well?
...well I guess some people still didnt know how to connect PC and TV via Kabel (HDMI or DVI or VGA) But I think the title, streaming is misleading some people, who where searching for the WiDi technology like me ;)
Doesn't work. I've watched a ten videos on youtube on how to plug in HDMI cord and change input on TV. I tried two TV's and two laptops. Display settings doesn't detect TV? tried windows update and intel website. Any suggestions? Thanks
What operating system are you using? With 7 just right click the desktop and select screen resolution and go from there. If you are trying to run a different OS then you have to figure it out for yourself. Actually you should know how to use an older OS in you don't have 7 or 8
Hello, my laptop doesn't display full 1080p resolution but my tv does, yet isn't displaying my desired resolution, rather it's being displayed in 1366 x 768, what do I do to fix this? I've put it on duplicate and extend, no progress.
I can connect my HP laptop to the TV using the HDMI cable, and get the audio to come out the TV. BUT I can't get the beats audio equalizer to control the sound coming out of the TV.
presterjohn71 But the audio is originating from my laptop. I thought the HDMI out port was controlled by beats audio. I found out later that the HDMI "out" port bypasses beats audio. My bad.
My Hp laptop has windows vista and my tv is sony flat screen . I followed all the steps connecting the vga cable . When I power everything up , I get a blue screen and the laptop continues to reboot . Does anyone know what the problemmight be ?
i got a logik full 1080p 32 inch tv plugged into a 750 ti 2gb and its blurry as hell i could not fix this problem, i plugged it in via vga and got a clear picture something is very wrong with that
2:55 -There aren't two screens displayed. Just one. No other one is detected. My computer detects when I plug in the cable. It does the little sound like when you plug in a mouse or something. I am using an HDMI cable. My tv is on HDMI 1. I am plugged into HDMI 1. My HDMI cable does not have a side specified for TV.
Is there a way to play things on the tv without showing what you're doing on the laptop. I want the people seeing the TV only seeing the video and not all the other stuff.
The sound for the video only comes out in the laptop right? Not from the TV? Do we need something like a sound cable for the sound to be coming from the TV?
Im not sure, but the sound has came out the laptop a couple of times when i first plugged the hdmi in, but i remove the hdmi then wait for ring pause the sound then plug the hdmi back in and wait for the ring to sound from the tv if it sounds from the laptop then it hasnt worked. You can change the screen settings by going to the "control panel" and clicking "adjust screen resolution" they have screen settings there. hit "detect" when hooked up, my tv comes up as "LG TV" and i select that as the main screen, dont forget to click apply to activate new settings. try different settings im sure you will get there.
shockle28 Thanks! I realised that for the sound to come out from the TV, I have to change the sound settings in Control Panel, where I have to disable the other speakers and enable the speaker for the TV. It worked!
thank you, thank you thank you dave!!! just by one simple cable. i was struggling for weeks to get netflix right. nobody knew the answer. din't know i had the cable but it was right in front of me in the horizon box of upc wahahahaha, they don't allow streaming netflix on their media box kids are very happy ( and mom too of course ;-)
I did everything correctly but there is no sound coming from my surround sound or even my tv. I turned the volume up on both my laptop and tv but still no sound.. how should I fix tbis
roccotool no i dont need to be told how to watch a video on my pc. the title is missleading because he simply watches a video via a direct hdmi cable. which is not "streaming" i was looking for a video on streaming because i wanted to learn if i could stream from a dlna server to more than 1 dlna receiver..
Don't use that cable. If you have a DMI outlet, get a DMI to HDMi converter and use a HDMI cable. You can also use a vga to vga but you get crap for picture. Now my pc has a video card with a HDMI connection so all I have to do is connect HDMI cable to HDMI 2 on the set and right click the desktop got to screen resolution and select detect. Windows recognizes the HDTV with 1080 resolution and changes it for me any time I select HDMI 2 I use 7 so if you are not you need help.
Easy to follow instructions however misleading title. This is not streaming, it's sending data through a wire connection to the TV. I want to know transfer content from laptop to TV wireless.
Jabirupilot1 Aww, I was convinced I would be able to do it. My monitor is a TV/PC LG monitor (I can both watch TV channels and use it as PC). But I can't find HDMI port on it, too bad.
