How to strip your Warhammer miniatures - SAFELY. I talk about different ways to easily strip your Warhammer 40k, age of sigmar, or other wargaming models. Safe to use with plastic, resin or metal, Biostrip 20 is a great product. It's relatively cheap and easy to use, which makes it the ideal product for you.

How do you find stripping miniatures, is this a product you use? I really like it, I don't think it's great for tanks and larger models, but it's perfect for a warband or a few squads. If you liked this video, do check out www.patreon.com/broadswordwargaming and think about supporting the channel, it's hugely appreciated! 😊

Just been using it for a month now in anger - got through most of a 250ml(?) pot. Another 1 l arrived - direct from the company and saved me £4 on the Amazon price. But it's great. Tanks are not an issue for me (Space Hulk is my game of choice)and the largest mini I put through it was an old style plastic Tyranid Warrior. Definitely looking at a large US cleaner and a lot of totally awesome (or equivalent) for vehicles - or maybe painting the stuff on with an old (or maybe new) 1inch paintbrush. I think thats what it's really for.

Thanks for this video, I scored an amazing deal for some riders of rohan on ebay which were seemingly (without trying to be rude) painted by a small child. They took quite a bit of scrubbing but once they're primed they're going to look great.

Hey just a heads up I've used the spray bottle version of Biostrip 20 and it definitely DOES damage the models, it literally dissolves them into featureless blobs, definitely be careful with the spray version.
@insomniacbritgaming1632
@insomniacbritgaming1632 2 года назад
there will be a solvent in the sray bottle to allow it to "spray" so that is probably what damaged the plastics

Worked amazingly on AOS plastic models. Took all the Citadel paint layers off in 3 hours and most of the primer. A thick black primer took a second dunk for another hour and some scrubbing to get it off the recessed areas. 2 or 3 skulls and ornaments that were stuck onto the side of the figures game unglued with the toothbrush scrubbing. But it depends how rough you are. I then gave the models a good rinse under a tap while brushing the stripper product off, which is like thick gloop that clings on to everything and then I used kitchen roll to dry them, a surprising amount of the primer came off while wiping the model dry. Overall I’m pleased that it easily removed the paint layers simply by dunking and leaving it for 3 hours. It’s probably worth wearing gloves as my hands felt dried out in just a few minutes.

Well, I finally ordered one, after MS Paints recommended it about a year ago (I've only just started getting stuff out of storage) ... I have a sonic cleaner and it's amazing for metal... what's strange is it almost doesn't touch my plastic kits, to the point where I have a metal model with plastic arms and the body is bright silver, but the arms are still completely painted... Luckily the sonic cleaner also zaps the glue so at least they come apart nicely.... My biostrip 20 is arriving tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to see if it does the job on plastics. I have an entire army I need to repaint and they don't make half those models anymore, so I really need to strip down a huge pile... :D Wish me luck!

@@peterdickinson4599 yes please. Would like to know how you go about stripping enamel paint.
@peterdickinson4599
@peterdickinson4599 3 года назад
@@Nuz_uk Hello. The core message is that when it comes to stripping with Dettol - water is the enemy! You want to go from 100% Dettol, to 100% liquid soap, and then wash off the soap with water. Because Dettol, plus stripped paint, plus water, equals hideous gunk. So pop off down to the local pound store and get yourself some toothbrushes, some tight marigolds, and some eye-protection. Put your minis in a sealable glass or plastic container and pour in neat brown Dettol until they are covered. A see-through container is best. After some time give them a swirl to see how well the paint is coming off. After 12 or 24 hours take them out and over a sink use one of your DRY brushes and start to scrub them. Use Dettol to clean them off. Place the scrubbed minis on some kitchen towel. Dab off excess fluid. Get them as towel-dry as possible. Are they stripped? If not; then back into the neat Dettol and repeat. If yes; then get one of your other brushes and submerge them in liquid soap and scrub clean. Only when you are happy they are clean should you wash off in running water. I have encountered some problems with very old glues turning to slime and have invested in Elbow Grease (UK) spray (active ingredient Limonene). This stuff will strip acrylic paint by itself or clean mould releaser from sprues. Very good as an extra step after the liquid soap. When done, dry completely before priming again. The mini should feel clean to the touch. No friction. No tackiness. Dettol works on metal, plastic, and resin minis. Strips acrylics, enamels, varnishes, and spray primers (though some black primers stain into the plastic). Does not (usually) affect any glues. Keep a cocktail stick handy to clean out deep crevices during the Dettol step. And support delicate sections when scrubbing. That’s it. Good luck.
