I watched Geo's videos about shaving with straight razor a year ago and I decided to buy a straight razor. I bought Golddach straight razor, strope and hone stone, and I'm very satisfied with it. So, I'm shaving with straight razor through one year and I can say that it is a best way to shaving. I must say that I used shaving soap many years for making shaving latther. Thanks on yours videos 🤗👍.

I've been using a straight razor with disposable blades and have really fell in love with the process. It's crazy how much money you save, and for a better overall shave too. Been thinking of taking the next step and sharpening myself instead of using the disposables. This video was definitely helpful, thanks!

@acdcboy non-abrasive pastes are intended to condition the leather or moderate how it draws (or pulls) at the razor while you're using them. Abrasive pastes are intended to remove metal from a razor to bring it back to sharpness or keen-ness. You don't need to paste a strop all the time. In some cases, you will not need to paste a strop at all, especially if you buy a strop that has been pre-conditioned. You don't want to overdo it with strop paste or your strop will become a greasy mess.

Thanks for this, I had no idea what to do with this, i tested it by lightly dragging it along a peice of nearby paper and the tissue i wiped it with, since this is the first time it's been sharpened. Is there any more specific way to test it you'd recommend?

Thanks alot for the videos, they are most informative and helpful. when you say never strop After shaving, is it harmful for the razor or is it unnecessasary?? Because some people say stropping after shaving is good, as it would dry the edge and prevent rust. it makes sense but what do you suggest? thank you.

which side to you use if your blade is dull? I got the blade and it was honed and really sharp. I used it two or three times and now its pulling hairs and skipping. The strop I have is the leather barber strop from amazon for 12.97. What side do I use? There is a smoother side and a side that isn't so smooth. It also has pretty decent reviews. Thanks

Hello Geo. I have two questions: I have a DORKO strop-belt that is a single leather strip.Q1Should I treat this leather with a leather preservative of some sort, such as neetsfoot oil??Q.2 Is it adviseable to treat the flip side[roughed up] with green chromium-oxide?..The reason why is that after honing I've heard that it is recommended to strop the razor on that side of the leather laced with the compound before stropping on the smooth side of the leather. What do you suggest?
@xV13TCONGx

Thanks for the video. I was curious though... do you apply any pressure whatsoever when you strap? Like even the tiniest bit? Because letting the weight of the blade alone to do the work doesn't seem as though it would sharpen.. also is there any angle you must have the blade? Because leaving it straight while you're strapping it.. wouldn't it cause the entire side to get worn out after time?

Nice vid. I learned the art of honing from my Dad. The steps were 1- Stone slab (Slate) with water. 2- Buffalo leather. 3- Deer skin. 4- Silk cushion. The confirmatory test was - cutting an unsupported strand of falling hair in mid air. Although I routinely use a cartridge but I still practice the art once a while

Dubl Duck. :) My 1924 Dubl Duck nicked on me. :( My favorite blade ever. Nothing remarkable just felt perfect and was easy to hone and strop even when I was new to it. I never did put the work in to redo the edge, I'm thinking it's time to get a low grit stone and hope for the best.

Geo, I've been thinking about going to a Straight Razor, primarily because buying 5 blade razors are too expensive (I'm bald headed and I shave every 2-3 days). I don't think I'm ready to shave my head with a straight razor, but I know I want to do my face with it. For a beginner, what would be the best razor & cream to use for sensitive skin?
