Hahaha I've had a MK jacket for 10 years and didn't know I could to do this... What it is funny is that the video exists since 10 years ago too. Thank you.
Thank you!!!!! I bought a Jones of New York rain jacket from Costco in 2020. It's 2024 and I just took it out of the packaging. I couldn't figure out how to fold it into the pocket. Your video saved me! You have to turn it inside out! Thank you so much!!!
Hah. Just got my Marmot Precip and searched for videos on how to do this. Thought it was a jacket dependent process, but after 30 minutes of trying to do it myself and looking at videos were nobody showed the actual process I found this helpful video. Im not a backpacker just wanted a rain jacket so this is completely new to me. Thanks a lot.
after watching this for my new Patagonia jacket, I started looking through my other things to see what else has self stuffing pockets and found my rain coat and day pack do too! so cool. thanks!
Thank you, your video solved my problem for me. I have a jacket that was described as self-stowing, but I didn't know how to do it, which pocket, etc. Thanks to you, I found the pocket with the pull on the other side and was able to stow it. Solved!
omg- I just got a Eddie Bauer rippac raincoat and was trying to figure out how the heck to pack the thing. thank you ! now I can get it into my freaking Fanny pack ! that’s how small it is. awesome
Great video. I could not figure out how to pack my new coat. It said it was packable but no instructions and it drove me crazy. The two double zippers way the go a way to the pocket. Thanks again.
I'm not confident about stowing my jacket this way. For example, after stowing my jacket away inside a self-stowing pocket, I noticed that, once it was unpacked, down was coming out of some of the seams. And that's my biggest worry about stowing my jacket in a compact, self-stowing pocket -- the jacket will get ripped or damaged.
+hurf_durf You can certainly stuff your jacket any way that works. We've found that the easiest and quickest way is to do what's shown in the video. The fabrics on most jackets rebound well so the creasing doesn't last too long. Thanks for watching!
This video is specifically for jackets that contain a built-in self-stowing pocket and that are designed to pack accordingly. That said, you may be able to stow the jacket into one of the hand pocket, however it will not zip closed and may be an atypical shape. We do NOT recommend forcing the jacket into a pocket that is too small to contain the jacket. Another alternative would be to get a small stuff sack in which to pack the down jacket.
I'm having a lot of down feather leakage with an LL Bean 850 fill coat and a Feathered Friends 20-deg bag. Is this just par for the course or is there some reasonable way to avoid the nuisance of airborne down in the tent and clothing sort of littered with it?
Seriously to all to those that have gone ‘oh wow, that’s amazing, I couldn’t work it out’ ......you’re having a laugh right? It’s not like you have got to work out how to strip a car engine in 60 seconds is it?! Haha it’s common sense if you take a few minutes to work it out.....human kind we are doomed 🤦🏼♂️😂
