lol what i don't understand is putting enemies like cryo hypo and ruin serpent where the animation takes 1000 years and the window of hitting them is so short.
This boss is so annoying because it spends most of the time burrowing under the ground, which is really frustrating. Thanks to this tip now i think i'll be able to finally 3-star this floor
doesnt hyv have experience with enemy design in honkai?? this is by far one of the stupidest stun mechanics. the window is not only small, the weak spot is erratic. i charged attack on it 3 times and none of the cores were destroyed. i understand its supposed to be hard, but the thing is i *cannot learn* how to do this especially since the overworld version of this boss has a different stun mechanic (using the lumen gadget). literally just praying my attacks hit it somewhat.

@@prefix1338 same. but sometimes i slap the serpent with albedos burst and zhonglis burst, yet its still not stunned!!! even with yelans charge shot and xingqius skill. i wish they at least made it move slower when it enters that spinning and charge up state.
The most consistent way I found to kill the cores without sacrificing team damage was with ayaka's CAs. They auto target multiple enemies once you start the CA, so by timing it well on the start, you can get a lot of cores down. Getting the last core or two just requires to pull off the same timing on his 2nd rotation. That allowed me to not sacrifice her burst daamge, or any of my support's abilities.
I don't know about you guys, but I think this boss is desinged with the only purpose to tilt you, to make you angry. Seriously, I finish the first half in 30 seconds, having 2 minutes and 30 seconds remaining to kill this boss, but even with that advantage I usually can't beat it because it spend like 95% of the entire time underground. By far I prefer fighting Raiden weekly boss rather than this annoying and stupid ruin serpent boss.

Here's something that works without having to aim: I used Ayaka/Kokomi/Ganyu/Venti in this chamber with Ganyu on favonius bow (lots of energy), and when it started spinning Kokomi E (to trigger freeze for 4pc blizzard), Ganyu E (for energy particles), Ayaka Q, Ganyu Q, Venti (dash backwards) E-->Q almost instantly stunned it haha
Damn bruh, u give me really important information, thx for this one even i already full star the spiral abyss. Idk why but my yelan burst + xingqiu burst + yoimiya hit always take him down while charging, at least i know that is its weak point from now.
I do think if they want to put these harder enemy, they should be in the first half. I had to reroll so many time when testing comb because it does the vortex move which has no weak spot
The best way for me to stun it is by throwing a black hole at the boss then watch it suffers :)). Yes, the character I've never expected to be useful here but do a very great job at stunning the boss: Venti. Just standing at a distance from the boss, not too close, not too far, press Q, then do anything I want before the job is done.
Thanks, I will try to use this to get rid of this stupid boss. Why hoyo always make bosses that teleport and run away from us?!! It's so annoying and especially in abyss when you need every second.
what makes ruin serpent worse and more annoyinh than the setekh wenut is the complete rng. at least setekh wenut keep following the 4 cycles and don't have the annoying rng (5 cycles if cryo affected)
I can stun it but I never understood how I stunned it but thank god I know now. I can still 36 star this part but let’s hope Hoyoverse no longer puts this annoying TWAT in abyss ever again
i didn't even know this, i had to keep restarting because i simply thought there was just no way to stun this dude then somehow i stunned him today, so i searched for this
Literally watching this after the 3rd abyss reset because my first two runs was carried by good luck and now my luck runs out and I have to find out why tf does the boss not get downed....
I used Keqing this abyss and it definitely felt much easier to stun this boss. Strangely enough, she was able to compete with my Ayaka team just because of how convenient her burst is against the boss.
thank you, I only got Heizou and fought this boss just a couple of times, but it's killing me in the abyss, I'm at 35 stars because of this. Is Zhongli's skill usable to disable it?
I somehow did it with one Kazuha e hitting all the cores while it's still spinning on the ground, it's not consistent though. Thank goodness for Childe national team, I can just kill the serpent before it even gets to that annoying phase.
Bruh the ruin serpent isn’t even that hard it’s just annoying because it hides and wastes time, I mean on my first run the ruin serpent sent my character flying when it popped out of the floor killing my character
The new documentary by hoyo explains why this boss feels so BS in Abyss - it was designed for overworld with the Lumenstone in mind. The weakspot window is intentionally small to balance that. But put it in Abyss without Lumenstone, and the weakspot window becomes way harder to use. Having so few characters that can hit the weakspots, and even fewer that can do it consistently, means it reverts back to being a DPS dummy, except its underground half the time. RNG is not always bad in combat, but this much and in this DPS check format just creates a terrible player experience. It was put in as the new boss of the patch, but truly hope hoyo learns it should never come back to Abyss. Shit, imagine if hoyo just uses metrics to evaluate abyss. Like oh, players spent a long time in abyss this round, means they must like it. Lets add more similar mechanics in future! Surely they wouldnt do that, right?
Your channel is criminally underrated man. I managed to 36* the abyss myself with a yae team, but couldn't manage with any other teams so this helped a lot.
I was able to stun it from time to time as I farm for Heizhou and do abyss though I didn't know how. Lmao. But I just watched this vid and I did it on my first try. 😊 Thanks! Btw, Mona E + Ayaka CAs worked for me.
absolutely braindead boss design. Unreliable hitbox, too fast to to time with arrows, short duration of spin. Cant reliably hit with elemental burst because of long animation time and ass autoaiming. Braindead genshin devs strike again

I have been stuck at 35 stars it's maddening to try the 3rd floor again and again with different team's and build I just can't take down that stupid snake.
And wenut, its not hard at all, but just annoying, same goes for Thunder manifestaion (tho that is still ok, because it, unlike ruin serpent and wenut dosent camp underground with no way of damaging, it just teleports to the other side of the room)
So i have to use ayakas burst on it when its in its high res state to stun it. And then attack it in some other way when it falls to the ground cuz i wont have her burst up anymore and only have 10 seconds to not only get it back, but also make it do damage when the burst itself has a 5 second duration and her skill has a 9 second duration and her energy cost is 80. Thanks mihoyo.
I've been doing this without knowing what it was. Usually I face the wrong direction so when I look back, the serpent is already deactivated and I'm like "what the heck just happened?" wasting precious time ;u;
Currently trying to get my first ever 36* clear as a mobile player and low spender (spent $40 total and $15 of it was on the Jean skin when it came out). Currently at 35*s, with just one star missing on 12-3. First half is easy with xiao, second half makes me want to die.
