I'm curious about the rules of being goth or Gothic because everyone seems to have their own idea of it and the current role models are......kinda.....bi*chy about it and even dunking on baby bats. (Of course not all but, it's mostly those Tiktok girls that pretend to know everything)
@@Rj-27 The rules of any subculture tend to boil down to: There are no rules! Don't let b****y people on TT gatekeep you from any hobby or subculture. All that matters is that you're willing to learn and have a good time with others who engage in the culture. If all you have is some eyeliner and some leather boots to start, odds are some nice goths will still let you hang out. You can even go sub-subculture and do Pastel goth or White goth, or lean more 80s goth or early 2000s goth (though that can lean into Emo ) . Likewise you could choose to dress goth and not even BE goth. Sometimes its just about the fashion. Anyway, to reiterate my point: there are no really hard and fast rules for what makes someone goth (this applies to most subcultures). Elitists suck, and dont let them dissuade you from giving it a go
@@SandraNLN Thank you! Yeah I've been working on Pastel Goth and thought it was really pretty until people started getting attacked for it because it's not "Real Goth". Also I hear Gothic culture is music based so people were saying if you can't get into the music then Gothic isn't for you and you should be a sub category of Goth. The most arguments I hear is that it's more music based and they hate it when people only join just for the clothes. I understand this but....I mean it's not really the same like culture clothes of different races?
I think there's really only one real rule for goth. You want something with as much drama as you can find and make it a splash Victorian, like an old hair art shadowbox (because they were used to honor the dead and have the needed somberness). The sky's the limit otherwise.
@@Rj-27I've always viewed gothic as being more than music based(im more on the book side of things, but also gravitated towards being goth because it just felt right).

Being goth myself this actually showcases how someone can start to lean into goth fashion. Layers, upcycled/thrifted pieces, and experimenting with the style are all core alt fashion statements. Companies make goth clothing expencive and hard to access. The only other thing that could be added would be gothic makeup (maybe romatic or classic) or maybe more symbolic or macabre statement pieces. Besides that, the look is amazing! I love your videos, they've helped me also look into other styles and ways to use different pieces.
The first look was clearly southern goth inspired, but the second one looked more elevated to me. The belt, the gloves, the ruffles, the tassels, it all comes together! Also, there are gothic styles that incorporate colors other than black. Pastel goth is one of my favorite Alt styles!
Yes but goth still is mostly associated with black :) I think it would be hard to mix pastel goth and cowboy style because pastel goth relies on the shape, texture and cuts and isn't recognizable by color like classic goth is.
Plot twist, she had this planned from the beginning, but showed us the simpler one first so we could fully appreciate every breath-taking aspect of the final style
Yeah it’s definitely more gothic than the first one. I also don’t mean to be rude, but there is a difference between gothic and goth. I don’t know how they specify over in Germany, but I do know they have a huuuuuuge goth community there, for better or for worse.
@@Slatorade9000As far as I know we don't really have a difference. There is the one named "Gotik", but it describes a period of time and all it's things like architecture and fashion and from the context you can guess pretty well which one is meant (the pronunciation is different too), since we would normally say x thing out of the Gotik period instead of gotik x. Whereas for gothic things we just use it as an adjective
i would love to see something like this outfit in a western omg. you're the witch the town is kinda scared of but always gives sage advice and predictions of when the outlaws will come and terrorize them. and even if the townsfolk doesn't particularly like you the sherriff and the local hero highly regard you. def arrive slowly on an all black horse that looks just as dramatic as you when dusk befalls the town
I feel like as a goth of the 90s you do goth your way and don’t let ppl tell you how. I love both outfits and the second just goes deeper into the drama which I adore.
I just love you and your humor…. You may be very beautiful but I don’t think it’s only your exterior that is what makes you beautiful, it’s your personality and your humor in addition to your looks….
i freakin LOVE your dedication to accepting that your own wardrobe won't have every exact piece you might want for a given look, because i think you're encouraging ppl to focus more on learning to style what they have. fighting overconsumption, one viewer's closet (or more probably) at a time!!!
Who seriously said the first one wasn't gothic enough?! That being said, this version is epic. I would absolutely wear something like either one. I especially liked the bolero over the hat.
@hithere911 It's a cute outfit. I'm just saying making something black doesn't automatically turn it goth. This is really just a regular cowgirl outfit but it's a black version.
You have emboldened me to dress as extra as I want, and I love it!! Puff sleeves, embellished shoes, unusual silhouettes-my wardrobe is living its best life (on a budget 😅)
Fishnets would be a personal add-on I'd recommend, fishnet sleeves, fishnet leggings, fishnet shrug options, etc.. You did an immaculate job! Belinda and the necklace switch definitely brought it up a notch, as did the other adjustments, although personally not sure about the gloves, but you styled the look so very very well. Good job!!
Hat Suggestion: Stetson Fedora Rapture. Still a black wide brim but combines subtle sunhat and cowgirl vibes. Also, try a belt chain with large cabochons to hang around Belinda. Oooh also a black ribbon choker with a silver cameo would be amazing for Western and Gothicky! Also try adding a bit of a leather harness vibe around your shoulders and waste to give a holster vibe. Maybe a shiny handled weapon stuck in the top of your boot, and a lacy black parasol! LOL, I love playing dress up with you!

This was perfectly executed!! In my years of experimenting with the gothy aesthetic the biggest thing I learnt was add accessories, and then more accessories and then more and more and then... You get it.
I think the first one was a nice casual gothic cowgirl style, and the final look is like you want people to notice you and ask what you're going to, cuz you look very mesmerizing and fun
I'm a goth person, and definitely think this version cranked up the gothic aspect X'D The first version was good too though, dunno why anyone was saying it wasn't gothic enough. I think they were just lying to see if you could make it more extra haha

Fully not even anything cowgirl about this anymore, it’s definitely giving “I have a meeting in the forest with my coven.” But I’m definitely here for it, and I love the addition of fringe to the hat :)
I'd remove the hat thing---it's absolutely gorgeous but it blends in with your hair, so I'd choose either having your hair up or no hat. You're beautiful,
