Hello, yes, the sublimated acrylic needs some pressure to keep it flat. Because the heated acrylic is soft, if there is no pressure, the acrylic will deform.

I know your question was a while ago, but figured I would chime in anyway. You don't need a second press. Just a weight (heavy book?) To keep it flat as the acrylic cools.

These do appear to be specialized sublimation plates, but I wonder if you could do on any acrylic

Acrylic is not white. Its transparent, just that the white is the protective sheet which u need to peel off
