Is it normal for her to not close her eyes before going under everytime? She was doing good yesterday but today she didn't close her eyes.

OOOOOMMMMGGGGG the **** was terrifying......But,....I learned how swim. I wonder if there was a better way. Maybe not....I think I learned how to over come extreme fear that same day.

Does this type of conditioning (from the video prior and this one) work on older kids like a three year old? This is great info!
@TessaRhodes
@TessaRhodes 2 года назад
No. The 2-plus-year-old child learns through imitation. They must be shown how to hold their breath and put their face in the water. Here's a link to my playlist on how to teach children with a fear of water. ru-vid.com/group/PLVWWjNPdfc_xp2BnfBsl1mIrGN-NTyk6A It's loaded with videos helping children get comfortable putting their faces in the water. Also, how do you tell if the baby or kid is not inhaling water? What happens they have their mouth open?
@TessaRhodes
@TessaRhodes Год назад
One way to tell is to watch for signs of distress. If the baby or kid appears anxious or uncomfortable when submerged, it could mean that they are inhaling water. If their mouth is open but still calm, they're holding their breath.

@TessaRhodes
@TessaRhodes Год назад
Hi there, I understand your worries about dry drowning. However, it is important to note that "dry drowning" is not a medical term. It was something made up on social media. The correct terms are hyponatremia or water intoxication (ingesting too much water) and aspiration pneumonia (water trapped in the lungs), which are very rare conditions. To learn more, I urge you to read my blog post here: www.tessarhodes.com/how-do-i-know-if-my-child-is-dry-drowning/ It can help alleviate some of your worries and provide valuable information on preventing it and recognizing its symptoms. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help.

what if the baby refuses when splashed with water by screaming, turning over and refusing with his hands. how to keep the baby relaxed when water is poured on his head?
@TessaRhodes
@TessaRhodes Год назад
All babies are different; some may take longer to adjust to the water than others. It's also important to never force your baby to do anything they're uncomfortable with. Here are a few tips: Start slowly. Don't pour too much water on their head at first. Start with a little bit and gradually increase as they get used to it. Distract them with toys and songs. Try holding a ball or other toy in front of their face. Sing a song or make a game out of it. It will help them associate water with something positive. Take a break. You can always try again later in the lesson or another day. Be patient. It may take some time for your baby to get used to water on their head. Just be patient and keep trying. They'll eventually learn to adjust to the water being poured over their head with a little time and patience! I hope these tips help!

Can I use this video guide for three month old?
@hiddengemsonamazon
@hiddengemsonamazon 3 месяца назад
Thank you so much for watching and for your question! I'm glad you're considering teaching your little one to be comfortable in the water from an early age. This video guide is designed to be gentle and safe for introducing babies to submersion, but it's important to ensure that your baby is ready and has been properly conditioned to hold their breath before trying the techniques shown. Each baby is unique, and readiness can vary. For a three-month-old, always start with water familiarization activities and make sure that they're able to respond to breath-holding cues. It's best to consult with a pediatrician before beginning any water submersion activities and consider working with a qualified infant swim instructor who can provide personalized guidance and support. Remember, safety is the top priority, and it's crucial to proceed at a pace that's comfortable for your baby. Never force submersion, and always keep swim sessions short, sweet, and fun! Here's a link to the video on conditioning your baby, which is appropriate for 0 to 8 months. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5pD2ZAl2Szg.htmlsi=nhbKSt1KH5iPjjSj If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to reach out.

I took my 3 month old swimming today. From everything I'd read online, she should have the diving reflex and hold her breath underwater, so I blew in her face and dipped her underwater for less than 2 seconds, maybe not even one, but she definitely inhaled water and she came up with wide eyes choking and coughing. Which gave us both a fright. She was fine, but I was terrified to put her head under again. She managed to inhale some water into her open mouth a little later in the swimming session, and ended up coughing and choking again. Is it possible she doesnt have this diving reflex, or am I doing something wrong, because I feel like the WORST mother.
@TessaRhodes
@TessaRhodes Год назад
It is possible. Not all babies are born with the diving reflex. It's present in about 95% of newborns, but it can be absent or diminished in some babies. The diving reflex typically disappears by the time a baby is six months old. This video shows you step by step how to condition your baby to hold their breath. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YETgKMxTI3A.html I hope you find it helpful.

This is so cool! I always pour water over my baby's head in the bath. I tried submerging her but her eyes and mouth were still open and she swallowed some water but didn't cry. I tried counting 1,2, 3 under but I don't think she was conditioned yet. I will try her "name, Ready, go" next time. Hope her eyes will close!
@TessaRhodes

Just keep conditioning her until she responds to the trigger words. Also, make sure you always say the same thing to her. It can be "1,2,3" or 'name, ready, go." Otherwise, she'll get confused.
