The game: "He doesn't have any AI; it'll be fine, he'll just sit there." Monty: "I do not know who I am... I do not know why I am here. *All I know is that I must kill.* "
Giga monty:I've found a downer! Hunt him down! Surround the bounder! Drown him! Ground him into powder! Then head down to the grounds for a round of rounders!
Honestly Freddy can be scarier than the others when you summon him, as there's his running coupled with the fact that he teleports around, meaning he can sneak up on you. You hear the others say something before they aggro most of the time.
'Perfection is not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away' Giga Monty's lack of murder inhibiting AI is what makes him a perfect killing machine.
They should make a hard mode where every AI is just as aggressive as Giga Monty and will chase you down from across the map instead of teleporting to you (though keep the ability to hide in Freddy so that the game is still possible).
Considering Monty's very limited presence in the game, this is actually a really cool way to make him a unique, prominent threat on his own. An animatronic that never teleports, just always chases with great pathing and like foxy in fnaf 2, knows you're in the freddy disguise
Broken monty can chase you I was in the daycare coming back from the theater and purposely summoned broken Monty and kept stunning him while walking away and then when I couldn't stun him anymore I just ran to the recharge station when I got in Monte still kept following me
That was supposed to basically be Vanny’s role… then boom… original game had to be scraped, and now we have this SB, which is a treasure for a different reason
The Giga Monty Mindset: -Spawns on top of the spotlight -Summons an army of his brethren from four quantum parallel universes -Asserts his dominance over Gregory and Empathetic Glamrock Freddy -Refuses to elaborate further *Leaves
If the devs patch the game, they should publish the fixed version onto a new build or something. The game as it is now should be preserved. It's a gift that keeps on giving.
@@TokenOracle that's optional for the publishers. If you want to you can delete the legacy versions at any time (which i can see steelwool doing to hide their shame)
Ironally, I think this glitch is what would have made SB scarier if it was intended. Even without the duplication, The idea of your position being alerted to all the animatronics, and them being set on an unstoppable dash to kill you is terrifying. Way scarier then them teleporting to you and then forgetting everything when you jump on a chair.
If anything, the bug shows the problems with the AI isn't the general pathing to reach the player, it's the aggro. The final AI struggles to catch the player because it loses interest too fast. I feel like if they just made the aggro longer, removed the teleporting, and gave the AI some way to catch the player on elevated surfaces the AI would be much better than it is now.
@@Edujs23 Except that hurts the gameplay, there's not much point in the preservation mechanics they give you if they don't work, there needs to be a balance (Like increasing the aggro and decreasing the how easy it is to escape and maybe disabling it entirely after you do something like break them and/or hit 6AM)
Fun Fact: A group of alligators is called a congregation. I love how they all work together with a common goal, almost like a hivemind--with Spotlight Monty as the leader and coordinator. Poor Freddy nearly broke himself at the thought of other Freddy's, while Spotlight Monty is like "Yo fam, want to hunt?" and the other Monty's help him. It's almost a wholesome thought. If I heard a chorus of "Rock and Roll!" as they stampeded after you, I would have died. XD But the fact that they say their own individual lines one by one is even better! The one broken Monty is just sad, though. His whole congregation gets to run while hunting, while he is doomed to crawl... Also, is the music at the start "Lone Digger" by Caravan Palace? If so, great choice. Very fitting that you would use a song that features anthro animals killing eachother in a brightly lit club.
There are so many design oversights in this game, like it's not a terrible game, but if you told me nobody had time to do any code review I'd believe it.
Yeah, like, the devs clearly cared about this game - it's not a cashgrab or anything, way too much effort went into it for that. They just got hit with either scope creep or insane budget/schedule troubles lol. I really feel bad for them, honestly.
@@jackkendall6420 Yeah... IIRC, Steel Wool Studios ran into pretty serious scope creep during development and Scott made the decision to downscale the project to avoid having to keep delaying it. I also don't think it's necessarily impatient fans' fault for this mindset either; this is their first game where they've partnered with major companies like NVIDIA and Sony, and I imagine they didn't want to push their luck and keep them waiting. I know I wouldn't.
I really like the way Giga Monty works. Instead of just teleporting a murder robot behind you, it instead alerts them and have them chase you with extreme focus.
I think they should have done it a bit like grim foxy from their other game, FNAF help wanted the curse of dreadbear dlc where the game teleports him near you but around a corner and usually far enough away to see him run after you and to hear him, after all the game does unload areas so they still need the tp
At first, I really hated how broken this game was when people couldn't go through a normal playthrough without unintentionally finding glitches. And now I embrace how broken it is, and I want to know how far its limits will go.
Unreal Dev here! What it's doing is spawning a new Monty for the sequence, when you enter the trigger, since the sequence is only meant to happen once but the devs don't check to see if that Monty has been spawned into the world, causing another to spawn. A simple check to store that Monty as an Actor variable (Unreal devs will know what I mean) and see if it is set, before spawning, would've prevented this from happening. This check can be done with literally three nodes in Blueprints, one to set the variable, one to get the variable and the third being an IsValid(). Not to big myself up but how a studio of people didn't do something that a solo dev like me would've done is beyond me. The game was definitely rushed out.
To be somewhat fair to them (as an RPG maker amateur dev who also really loves to sequence break games), it's possible that the "is Monty spawned in; if yes, disable spawning from there on" check is stored in another event that happens after the spawning and where, in normal gameplay, you'd never have a chance to unload and reload the world before Monty's set to stop spawning in. From the behavior shown here the problem seems to be that getting the pass sets "showtime sequence ready to start; set up Monty next time this area's loaded in" but doesn't also set "showtime sequence's on; Monty doesn't need to be loaded in", or "showtime sequence finished; clear up Monty and any showtime props", too. (and this is why you just assume someone's gonna sequence break somewhere and make sure that if they sequence break you at least make sure to tell the game "just in case, make sure the previous plot events get marked as finished again here")
@@crystalpalmz Maybe for a smaller map with less assets. Security Breach has a massive map, a lot of assets, and a fuckton of moving parts. I think the issue here is that Steelwool bit off more than they could chew. I’m a little upset with Security Breach too, but I understand that they did what they could with what they had.
@@crystalpalmz You forget that triple A games with huge maps such as Assassins Creed Origin have absolutely massive teams with hundreds of people working on them.
i know what you mean it was like i was filled with just an immense dread and it was by far scarier than anything in the normal game could hope to achieve
Honestly, I feel like FNAF: Security Breach has become the new Skate 3, where people disliked it originally for it's bugs, and end up praising it and loving it for them, probably far more than they ever would've if the game was perfect, code-wise, and never had a single bug.
@@thealchemistking4063 Not really. Not a single person I've seen has ever liked Skyrim for it's bugs. Skyrim is loved more for it's mods. But they're also Skyrim's biggest issue, because the game's absolutely unplayable, and genuinely terrible and unfinished without them.
It's genuinely astounding a glitch like this can happen, and it borderline showcases how well Security Breach could have been. Obviously they'd have to tone down how aggro the AI is but if the game was like this, it'd be a lot more terrifying. I've seen people play it, and instead of people getting scared when a guardbot spots them they treat it like an inconvenience. An animatronic teleports, and they run to the nearest hide spot and it's like it never happened. I genuinely wish they made it so that the animatronics are in a wander state, and as soon as a staff bot is alerted they would go into an aggro state and run to where the staff bot called them. If they see the player, they will then go for a mad dash until they either kill or lose sight of the player for about 3 seconds. This would make it so that you had to actually rely on stealth and your own ability to maintain stamina and your own map knowledge. Imagine getting spotted by a staff bot, and you hear the thundering footsteps of Roxy making her way towards you, so you dash into the nearest room, but she spots you right as you slip into the room. Roxy chases after you, and you dive into the bathroom stall or other hiding spot, only for Roxy to run in and begin surveying the room as you sit in your little hidey hole watching the cameras until she goes away. But you know what the sad part is? I basically just described to you the AI of *Baldi's Basics.*
Nah, Baldi always knows where you are, it's just that doors and other "noise" triggers makes his AI check there first THEN resume pursuit (unless he sees you, which is higher in priority). The AI you described sounds like Haunting Ground/Memento's AI instead.
@@neoqwerty For the classic edition at least, the original comment is more accurate. For a more in-depth explanation, I recommend Tech Rules’ video on Baldi’s AI.
I don't know if it was always the case but when I replayed the game, a S.T.A.F.F Bot found me and alerted Chica, who did a mad dash to where I was, like Giga Monty But only in West Arcade
@@ChaoticJester I think what happened was when the S.T.A.F.F Bot alerted her, she teleported to the first floor and ran to the my location on the second floor
This is one of the very few glitches in this game that honestly, they should NOT fix. I would adore if this somehow stayed in game past any and all patches it gets, the ability to turn on a unique hard mode: Monty Is Going To Eat You mode, by just messing with the rooftop Monty
Yeah i don't understand why the AI isn't more aggressive like this or at least they could've made a hard mode where it was. It would've made the game a lot scarier
@@LDNpro01 yeah after 6 am instead of stupidly disabling saves they, you know, maybe could have done what literally every other fnaf game does on the later levels and make the animatronics more aggressive to actually make the game harder instead of just being cheap
The fact that the infinite squadron of Giga Monties spawns in and spends all their free time at the *Party Check-In* is like the cherry on top of the quantum fuckery horror sundae.
Kinda make sense as the running theme of the game is systems being hacked or glitched in order to be killing machines and becoming eerie rather than entertaining, an excerpt to one of the discs in the therapy discs
It's interesting that now we know completely why Giga Monty acts this way. He was designed for a scripted sequence for when the spotlight got you, as it triggered the "gregory is found!" event, and was designed to completely punish the player for not avoiding it.
@@sollumi3014 Yup. In the Playstation pre release version spiff looked at, if you got caught by the spotlight or didn't crouch past Spotlight/Giga Monty, he would be teleported to the ground. So I assume when they scrapped the spotlight mechanic, due to how jank it looked, they kept the Monty's AI because he couldn't path to the player, and so was a non-threat.
@@sollumi3014 its in one of spiff's videos. The playstation version had an older dev version inside of it. So people could look at how the game acted in oct before Security Breach was released.
It's fascinating to me that simpliest AI of them all became by far scariest and most threatening. There is something primal about the fact that Chad Monty while being stripped out of his intellect possess such danger to the player. It's almost like a poetry
The perfect thing about this glitch is that it is triggered specifically by Monty, who's the heaviest and most intimidating out of all them, if it happened with anyone else it wouldn't be as funny as it is.
Imagine 30 of her constantly running wild across the whole building like she does in the final Afton fight so you would have to strategize where you move
I met giga Monty on my first play through, during the part when Monty was on the spotlight I went to left into the area with the lighthouse and as I was looking around I could here this clanking noise and when I turned around Monty burst through the door and started dead sprinting at me when I tried to hide he would just stand there waiting even when I was inside Freddy. 10/10 experience was traumatized for years
@@RizzlerOfGyats replying to the bots makes the RU-vid algorithm think it's a legit comment. Just don't reply, and it'll be much easier to get rid of them, because then a lot less people have to report it.
So, from my understanding, Giga monty is a from the AI striped down version of Monty that does not even react to Gregory line of sight. He normaly stands on the roof, so he can not pathfind to Gregory when he gets the only stimuly he cares about: Secruity bot/Animatronic Alerts. Then, on the ground since he can pathfind he sprints to Gregory with the presicion of a cruise missile.
This is probably one of my favorite things to come out of security breach. I like to imagine they just strapped some Monty shells on some random endos lying around and you accidently let them loose.
It would actually make more sense to have such doubles ready. In case something happens to the main star, they need to be replaced as quickly as possible.
So far nearly every animatronic has a super form: Giga Monty from Spiff, Hyperspeed Chica from Mark, and Quantum Freddy from... too many people. We just need to unleash Roxy's super form to have the whole gang.
My theory is that Giga Monty is somehow a Monty with Freddy's pathfinding, since Freddy is the only other animatronic with that level of pathfinding. It would also make sense for him to track you in Freddy if he is using Freddy's pathfinding, since Freddy would likely be programmed to run to Gregory no matter where he is. In conclusion, I believe Giga Monty is basically just Freddy pathfinding with hostile animatronics' jumpscares.
It seems fitting that after the discovery of Giga Monty the next thing to take the title of Scariest would also emerge from the same game, that being the Giga Moon that relentlessly pursues you even across different saves and new games. It really makes you wonder what the game will release next.
I actually like the Idea of Giga Monty only appearing if you break the game, or being a time lord. It’s like a accidental consequence for breaking the game, where even time lords can’t escape the Giga Monty
I love the unintentional Storyline we have here. In his anger at the Vent, Spiff went too far and broke reality, summoning an unkillable Monty that is unrestrained, unlike his former self. To protect the Timeline, Monty and his clones are on a death march to destroy the anomaly. Also Giga Monty fanart when
Idea: Make the Spotlight Monty extremely slow with modding or something. Now, force one to be spawned off the spotlight at all times. Get hunted extremely slowly and accurately throughout the entire game experience Profit.
it does seem sad that giga monty is stuck on the spotlight considering how much power it could yield, and it would make gregory's statement "i gotta avoid that spotlight" way more realistic, since it would give you a reason to avoid said spotlight
Imagine if the spotlight circled around slowly, and stepping into it activated Giga Monty. Also, fun fact: if you do the DJ Music Man bit before killing Monty, the Monty that spawns is actually very similar, with the only difference being that he can jump.
Welp, nearly 6 months after the original content, the leaked ps4 prerelease build has spotlight Monty actually functional. Somehow, they broke Spotlight Monty a FEW WEEKS before release and just never fixed it.
@@laprinhound9369 actually, the DJMM Monty’s ability to jump makes it easier to get away from him. But if he had a lower jump cooldown when he missed, then yes, it would be a super Giga Monty.
Hey, although this isn’t as impressive, I got two Chica’s to spawn once. I think it’s because I did the prize corner first, then later, went down there using the elevator. Chica is wandering around, but getting the security badge spawned a second one and now there were just two.
Yeah, that happened to me too. I went down and did the kitchen quest later, turned on the generator for the trash compactor, triggered Chica, ran away into the kitchen, and ran into ANOTHER Chica eating garbage.
A RU-vidr not only had two Chicas, but the duplicate also constantly teleported behind him when she was out of sight. The cause was a security bot getting stuck triggering the alert even when the player was inside Freddy. This also caused the animatronic alert noise to play constantly. Hell, it was so bad the second Chica showed up in cutscenes with the real one, thankfully not killing the player, but then she spawned below the trash compactor and killed him when he tried getting the voice box. It was a dead run, but fortunately, it was past 6AM and thus no saving to softlock the game. If you want to check it out, look up Vox Akuma, it's in the third 3 hour stream.
@@anothenblue2630 Ah, I remember now, something like that happened to me too. Not so much the duplicate part but I had a demon Chica that kept spawning behind me even when I was in Freddy. Again in that area in the kitchen.
I absolutely love giga Monty, especially thier voicelines that keep cutting each other out. really hope this becomes a staple in the fnaf community for years to come
I think there would need to be SOME ability to hide (what's the use of a hiding place otherwise?) but you can't just hop into a stroller in front of them. Maybe chop down the number of hiding places and amount of S.T.A.F.F. bots. That way you can have freaking AMAZING bloodthirsty murder bots, but also have a chance of actually succeeding. I believe Vanny was supposed to take the role of forcing you to keep moving. Considering where she pops up, how she moves, and the Vanny meter, she seems to have been created as the "timer at the end of the level" while the animatronics are a free-for-all and Vanessa is just a sassy S.T.A.F.F. bot. I would like to see a (tempered) version of Giga Monty, but for them all. I want a super amazing, terrifying Vanny. Giga Monty is a nightmare, but Vanny was _made_ to be a nightmare.
Chica can be duplicated, but it seems to be harder to do. One playthrough i watched by Xman 723 had this glitch occur. He had one Chica stuck in the kitchen, but another Chica could still get him around the building. So he basically had a permanent fixed Chica, and also a Shattered Chica at the same time. I also feel bad for Freddy in here, having to deal with so many Montys XD
I'm guessing that spotlight monty probably uses the same AI used in the tutorial chase scene at the beginning, but without the limited speed he has during the tutorial. This would explain the perfect pathing without the ability to lose interest with the player. Also, if it was using this AI, it would prob be easier to control when monty has aggro, so that he doesn't go giga from the spotlight position, much like how monty in the beginning has his aggro controlled by cutscene triggers and not his ability to see the player, but clearly the system that blocks monty from getting aggro from security bots breaks whenever a new monty is loaded.
@@kittydemonoverkill As I said, the system that's suppressing monty's aggro clearly breaks when a new monty is spawned. This is probably because that system starts targeting the new spotlight monty, leaving the old one with it's incredibly broken AI.
Just the Conga Line of like 4 or 5 Monty Gators running full speed across the mall is a hilarious image and the fact that you can't do anything is also funny.
Now that's a security system. Imagine if they became more active when the speaker systems announces the Meggapizzaplex is "innitiating nighttime security protocols."
I got into playing Security Breach a little later than it released, but my partner had mentioned Giga Monty to me beforehand. I thought it was a pretty funny concept, but I didn't know much about it at the time. While playing, during the showtime sequence, I actually managed to spot another Monty *on top* of the booth right next to spotlight Monty. I believe this was before any patches. My partner and I were just in awe. Thing is, too, I didn't leave the atrium at all, or do any reloading of the map, to my memory. In fact, I think I was just walking around normally, made it up to the second floor and looked down to see that Monty had multiplied. This game is crazy.
Truly a sight to behold. Now all we need is a glitch that makes Monty larger or Gregory smaller so we can truly have GIGA Monty. Great work as always Spiff!
I like to imagine that Giga Monty is the TVA (AKA Moon man's) ultimate weapon, meant to eternally punish Gregory and Freddy for their time-travelling shenanigans, Freddy will be forced to constantly run out of battery while Gregory is in a death loop
This is unintended behaviour?!?!?! I had this happen to me during my first and blind playthrough of the game. Post 6 AM, getting spotted by any of the security robots in the daycare area would make a Monty exactly like this spawn and hunt me down. He always knew where I was and I couldn't hide from him, he continued to chase me even when I was in Freddy too. I thought they just decided to make Monty OP during that section of the game for whatever reason. I only ever had one chasing me, however. And using Freddy's screech ability did get him to run away; it seemed to be the only thing to break him out of the loop. I streamed my entire playthrough of the game on Twitch, so I could post the timestamps of this if you or anyone is interested!
Seeing the stream of Giga Montys chasing you from across the map really takes me back to the days when I’d spawn 50 FNAF chaser NPCs in Garry’s Mod and let chaos ensue.
Honestly, they should have made it like Giga monty to all animatronics when spotted, and the only way to loose them is to use the hiding spots or distractions (or both), and only they do work if their line of sight is not onto gregory. Then for example roxy with her special eyes would be able to see all hidding spots regarldess (except freddy), monty would be not affected by the distractions, and chica be the only "normal one", but she can spot you inside freddy instead and use her voicebox to stun him and force you out of him, (if she see the player entering him.) Then the security guard would only appear as a teleport if the security bots catch gregory/or vanny if caught by the modified staff (and since they're human, unlike the other bots, they don't loose you if you jump on obstacles or something. Making these spots intentional as the others are robots). This game could be better.
5:51 Ocarina of time also has a glitch involving stairs and unloading/loading things. The entrance to the shadow temple is done stairs down, and if you move just right on them, you can cause the game to load more and more rain without unloading the previous rain. Eventually, there is so much rain that a giant tombstone over a secret passage can't load in, and now you have access! (Also, just imagine Gregory moving up and down the stairs with link noises, it's very funny)
@@whatwaq i believe they are referring to the signature noises of the protagonist in The Legend of Zelda series, Link, who has a very distinct way of audially exerting himself via grunts, yelps, groans, etc.
personally, i think this kind of code warping and unheard of spawn manipulation makes this game so, *so* much more fun than whatever was intended in the release. its just amazing how a free roaming game can turn into an, albeit amazing, dumpster fire with bugs and glitches galore without even trying to seek out the problems, and just playing the damn game. its very obvious this isn't what the devs intended to release to the world, but honestly, i'm glad they did.
@@ghoulchan7525 With a couple tweaks it could work. Mainly, things like animatronics alerted by S.T.A.F.F. sprinting towards you rather than teleporting. Maybe you could keep the 'tracks through Freddy' with the Animatronics assuming Freddy is also hunting down Gregory, and 'co-ordinating' with him - in other words, sticking around Freddy when they were initially alerted for a while. Lethal, if you haven't charged him in a while and can't find a moment to sneak out whilst they're looking the other way. As the biggest and the slowest, this applies most to Monty, affirming him as the one your defences are least effective on.
@@lozm4835 Honestly sounds dope, and would make hiding in Freddy not only more tense, but could also open up potential character interaction, which would let us get to know them better. A fantastic addition to a story-based horror game, I feel.
Giga Monty.... easily the scariest and funniest creation known to man. This is exactly why the creators of this game should have had Speedrunners stress test the game, Giga Monty is a prime example lmao
Duplicating chica during the pizza quest is possible, happened to my friend mid stream. No idea if you can dupe her while giga but normal is guaranteed on 1.0
giga roxy and giga monty can be encountered in the prize counter office in the sequence that happens after picking up the security badge, you simply have to go outside one of the doors and there they are
I'm so glad we have a 13 minute video of breaking down the exact mechanics of how this glitch happened, cant wait for absolutely nothing to be done about it
This would be cool for a hard mode. Like each animatronic has its own special power and they all chase you to the ends of the earth. Also, I feel like the animatronics should be able to use their special powers. Like Roxy should be able to see inside freddy since she can see through walls.
