Hi, for future use, All threads should be 2 full threads past the nut to ensure full engagement. We've had various lock nuts back off and fall off, so now specify nyloc nuts and nordloc washers as standard in any possible locations where vibration from equipment, buildings, wind ect are possible. Just something to think for future installs.

EXCELLENT video, Mike!! 👍 More tutorial videos like this please. This will seriously help the newbies coming into the trade and bring standards back up to what they should be. I love the style of your videos too, very unique and great to watch! 👌 Nice to see quality sparks doing a top job and representing our trade! Keep up the great work! Still hoping to bump into you on-site one day! 😅

For sloped ceilings we like to use hinged ceiling brackets from Legrand VAN GEEL. No need for bending rods!

I know you use a bandsaw to cut the strut just got a Milwaukee metal circular cuts though it like butter leaves a great factory edge. We also hang a m10 rod off the ceiling and use it to stick the laser to for setting the strut Hights. Great video keep them coming 👊🏻

How come all cable trays that we see British sparks use are suspended like this? In Sweden we use supports that goes up from the middle of the tray or ladder. That brackets gives us the ability to lay the cable up instead of necessarily having to pull it through all those brackets that you use.
@residualelectrical
@residualelectrical 6 часов назад
I’m not sure, just the way we do things, I’m not sure how the loading would work with a center support, I’m sure the tray would bow also

Thanks, nice video. Can you share measurements of the unistrut cut length, how much larger than the width of the tray/ladder?

Mate, nice installation. I do these big cables on a daily basis in Germany. Please look into the Erico Caddy Rodlock System. What a nice invention. I bet that you are even faster with these.

Put your window brackets on the strut then offer it up slide window bracket loads easier than lining the holes up in the air
@residualelectrical
@residualelectrical 6 часов назад
Yeah for sure, due to the lip on the purlins that technique involved removing the bolts, but normally that’s the way 👍🏼

does the additional half tonne loading hanging from the roof structure require a structural engineer to assess the design ?
@residualelectrical
@residualelectrical 6 часов назад
Not necessarily, depends on a lot of variables but in this case the due diligence had been done. Loading is fine but we was advised to not drill any purlins.

why don't you get some non spray galv paint '? and just dip it, spraying the cap or a board seems wasteful and your still breathing the aerosolised paint.
@residualelectrical
@residualelectrical 9 часов назад
That works great too, both applications have their benefits - this was an old can of spray I’ve had for a while so made sense to use it up 👍🏼

Nice Mike , we have just finished the containment to the workshop and server room of a tech company . Trunking , basket and tray hung from the ceiling on trapezes . Be wary of the large cables pushing the trapezes when you bend them and tie them in .
