I lived in caracas at its peak of danger (2005-2009) and then another whole year in (2014). I honestly had the best time of my life and its one of my favorite cities/countries in the world. I love love love caracas
I watched a short documentary about Caracas and it was alarming. Around 6-7pm every day the locals reacted in such a serious way, closing shop immediately and telling everyone to go home! The drivers wouldn’t stop in traffic out of fear of being robbed or carjacked, you have to keep moving!
I have been living in a suburb of Cape Town for over a month for my internship. A week ago my gf had her phone and wallet stolen by a group of five masked men near her college campus. I have never experienced any crime in the area I lived in, though the doors have extra chained locks because of home break-ins. Generally all of the violent crime is located south of the Airport in the former apartheid settlements, which are rampant with poverty and prone to flooding. I visited one of the areas called Khayelitsha as a part of my internship and it was in a heavily fenced and guarded area. My coworker went outside the fenced area to get lunch and I wanted to come with to explore the area but she warned me not to come. I am white and I live in America so I understood why I could be a victim, but it was broad daylight and that kind of shook me. Usually in American cities people always tell you not to go to certain neighborhoods at night so being warned about walking around during a nice, sunny day was definitely surprising. I knew Cape Town was dangerous before I came here, but I lived in New Orleans for five years and I felt like I had the common sense to avoid being kidnapped or murdered. My advice would be to stay in the Northeastern suburbs around Bellville. They have apartments that are well guarded by armed security and I have to ask them whenever I want to be let into my apartment complex. I am writing this comment from my apartment in Cape Town right now and I have gone a month without being a victim of any crime. I love the city; it is very biodiverse, multicultural, and everyone I have met has been very nice to me and welcoming. The nice part is that most of the interesting tourist attractions are in safe areas with barely any crime. Also watch out for the wildlife; there are nature reserves with hippopotamuses and they are the most dangerous animals in Africa. Have common sense and don’t be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Don’t flaunt your wealth and if you are a woman don’t even think about walking alone at night. Safe travels and I highly recommend Cape Town as place to visit; it is a beautiful city.
I live in Cape Town (in a safe area) and I can tell you that the crime here is very concentrated in specific areas (notably, the Cape Flats). Meaning, if you avoid these areas and their surroundings, you will most likely have a very pleasant experience of Cape Town. Of course, crime can happen in "safe" areas as well, but it is not as bad nor likely.
Hey! I used to go in the Beer house of long street ( more like dealer street) I got agressed by knife at 2 am just a little further on longstreet by a bunch of woman. They stole everything from me, my phone, ID... Ran to a policeman that helped me ( maybe bcs I am european), we reached them and they said they found my stuff on the ground. Asked me if I want them to be arrested,I refused (bcs I wanted to get away asap) Then policemen explained that they helped me so I had to pay them But I didn't had cash so had to run again while they were screaming to me "stop" . Reach the Beerhouse where my Friends were. They Saw my face and understood something was not ok. So they got me home with a Uber When I got out of the bar, some policemen were waiting for me and said I owe them money Couldn't say a word but somehow they let us go Then I became anxious about going outside, was only 20 by then
@@Chlorophyle974 Yeah the thing about South Africa in general, is that one should not be out in the streets after dark. It can get really dodge. Petty crime (and worse) thrives during these hours. I am sorry that you had to experience that.
Interesting that nowhere in the dangerous Middle East was mentioned. I'm very thankful I don't live in any of these cities listed here. I did visit Detroit in June of 2019, but I strictly stayed in the downtown part Nothing bad happened to me while I was there, and didn't see any violence happening to anyone else. A special 3-day event called the River Days was going on at the time.
@@bracebrooks967 I was referring to How To Survive being politically correct. They didn't mention the Middle East. I was only responding to Brace Brooks when they mentioned the Middle East. I get that How To Survive couldn't mention every city because there's only so much time for a video but how could the Middle East not be mentioned with what is happening right now and their history. Considering they harbor and encourage terrorism, they treat women like property, they will kill anyone who refuses to accept Islam, etc., etc., etc. Nowadays videos like to be politically correct because they are afraid they will offend certain groups and certain races. That's why I said that.
Yes they are exaggerating. I’m from St. Louis it’s in the Midwest but I can tell you Detroit is not the most dangerous city in America. Literally at the time of this video St. Louis Missouri is ranked 13th worst city in the world on Wikipedia the next worst US city on the list was Detroit at 42. St. Louis has been the murder capital of the United States for the past ten years straight at the time of this video. It’s very weird that he chose Detroit when St. Louis is at least 30 cities ahead of it on the list.
Hi, nice video. But I expected you to mention also Pyongyang in this citycount list. Do you know that if you visit Pyongyang the North Korean government will take your passport and will also choose your Hotel. But also you can't go out without the touristic guides that the government gives you. And also you cannot register or photograph most of the place that you visit and if you do you can be arrested, go to jail and even sentenced to death. In addiction when the guides bring you to visit the bodies of the North Korean leaders you have to bow down if you don't want to have a bad day (or if you don't want that day to be your last). Hope you read this comment! You're awesome.
Wait isn't Johannesburg even worse? (Places like Hilbrow and Alex)? I'm from Eswatini so I'm familiar with these places,, just haven't stayed too long.
I live in Tokyo, and no, earthquakes don't happen daily. Especially, not that dangerous in Tokyo in other prefectures like Kyushu more often. Compared to earthquakes , typhoons are more dangerous, but i still wouldn't place Tokyo on 3rd spot lol
He exaggerated, Detroit is a warzone I’m From STL The Midwest but I can tell you Literally at the time of this video St. Louis Missouri is ranked 13th worst city in the world on Wikipedia the next worst US city on the list was Detroit at 42. Putting Tokyo on this list is absolute baloney. No way is it among the "most dangerous cities" to be avoided. Yes, Japan does experience periodic tremors, but the chances of being affected by a big one are extremely slim. You're way more likely to get pickpocketed in, for example, London or Paris.
But getting pickpocketed is not quite as severe as getting trapped, killed or injured in an earthquake, and there is more you can do to prevent it as well. I still dont have impression tokyo would rate that high on the danger list, or there would be far more warnings about it, especially with the popularity
@@kamogelomphuloksomething9528 yeah, you’re right in saying everywhere we go isn’t safe, but it’s not the way the video makes it sound. Better to be careful though.
I stayed in Cape Town for over a week, alone! I went everywhere-even drove to Simons Town to dive with sharks. It was when I returned to America that I learned that Cape Town was the most dangerous city in the world (at that time)!
ong bro, the bronx is stereotyped as this dangerous place full of drug dealers and murderers and gangsters. but thats just centered to specific areas like in any other city, otherwise bronx is just like brooklyn, manhattan, queens, and staten island in terms of safety.
i am from SA and i visited cape town once and man that wasn't the best few days of my life although it didn't happen to me what i saw wasn't it like at moment i thought my life was chai
I went to Tijuana once for a few hours to see it and go out with two male friends. In one of the bars, they took one of the guys, handcuffed him and then surrounded me, saying I have to either pay or they keep him. I only had $200 on me and no bank card, so they said I will have to go with them too, claiming we did something worthy of going to the cops and mexican prison. They were obviously lying about where they would take us. By the grace of god, I managed to get through to the leader among them, and he let us go. Thankfully, we were near the border walk across to San Diego and within minutes we were back on US soil.
Make a most dangerous countries capitals and I am from Venezuela and my family lives in Caracas and me and my family never went out side in Venezuela Caracas
I was born in Caracas. Visited 57 countries so far more than 300 main cities and yes, Caracas is far from far the most dangerous city in the world. Unfortunetly :(

Yeah St. Louis is climbing the list of most dangerous world cities. Which is terrifying considering the strangle-hold cartels have on many Mexican and South American cities.
