I come back and watch this video when im feeling clucky !!! haha , 4 kids and no more for me but i used to loved wrapping my babies in a swaddle pretty much just like this. Nice big swaddle blanket, and nice and snug around their arms and belly but still room to move their legs and hips. Very good! I just came here after reading that it's not good to swaddle if they try turning over because it can cause SIDs if they are swaddled on their tummy. You also don't want to put their legs straight and together as that can cause hip dysplasia. So you did everything right!

From what I understand it's better for younger babies that are not very 'moveable' yet but not so good for older babies that can flip over and get stuck.

Oh gosh, so cute. My son was like that. He was always really happy and still, cooperative even, when he was being swaddled. Afterwards he'd have that same smile like "it's my lucky day!".

@bobby hoelein i just had my baby on august 23rd and the hospital told me not to swaddle him with his arms tucked in u swaddled him with his arms in and they told me it was a hazard and he could suffocate.... my mom swaddled me with my arms tucked in but apparently im wrong for doing it even tho he liked it better that way... am i wrong for swaddling him exactly how u did or what cause im a first time mom and its like ugh lol

This video Reminded with my sweet moments with my son. We Indians do this at least for up to 4months. My son never liked that, he used to push him in upward direction to remove the wrapped cloth.Many times he succeeded in removing wrapped cloth. The baby is soooo cuteeee.bless u.

For babies that don't like to be swaddled there are products like swaddle up that let's the babies hands roam free while still restricting movement to prevent startling when asleep

It's a bit hard to tell from the video, but are you keeping the wrap pretty tight around the legs too? I'm only preparing for my first baby so I'm no expert, but everything I've read says that the wrap should be looser around the hips/legs to prevent Hip Dysplasia forming. Seems like keeping the arms and tummy snug is usually enough to soothe the baby.

I'm sorry to disagree but after all that time in the womb, babies need to move and stretch to build muscle tone. I never swaddled my daughter and she was a content baby, sleeping through the nite at four weeks old. She only fussed when she was hungry.

They aren't swaddled 24/7. You're fortunate that your baby was content but that doesn't mean all babies are. They are good for comforting upset babies when other things don't work. They can be very helpful.

Thank you. New studies showed that swaddling are actual risky. My mom learned this in the 70s, back then she lived in a tiny greek village and the doctors weren't the best... when my mom was pregnant a new doctor from Athens came to the nearby town and he told the mothers to STOP swaddling, exactly because babies need to move. He asked my mother how she would feel if someone would pack her like that.

Every baby is different, as is every mother. What works for one doesn't always work for another. I have 6 kids and I've swaddled all of them exactly this way. All of them slept through from roughly 8 weeks. My daughter was walking at 9 months and my boys were walking at 10 months. None of them crawled. The swaddling was not done all day, just at night or when they needed comfort.

Swaddling has been practiced for centuries,and many cultures do it because it's convenient for mothers especially those who work in agrarian lifestyles. And yet, the human species is very much alive and well. I think you are just here to virtue signal and make yourself look like a better mom with your "better mothering practices."
