Got a pair of 3s that would look better with that OG Nike Air on the back? Today you'll learn how to swap Jordan 3 back tabs. This is one of Vick's most simple projects, but one that can make a huge difference for your favorite pair of Air Jordan 3s.
The best part is that by following the instructions in this video, you should be able to complete a Jordan 3 back tab swap at home without too much trouble at all.
Ready? Let's get it.
Arguably the hardest part of this whole project is finding the right donor tabs. You have a few options here; you can either cut them off of a pair that you already own, or you can find someone that custom makes them. The latter is the cheaper and preferred option. In Vick's case, he had a pair laying around for a project you all might be familiar with, the recreation of the 1988 Jordan 3.
Now that we have our donor back tabs picked out, it's time to remove the current Jumpman back tab. All you really need here is a seam ripper. Be careful not to damage the Elephant Print!
Once you've got the back tab removed, it's time to add some simulated stitching to your donor. This will ensure that the shoes still look factory, without the messy stitching on the inside of the sock liner.
Time for glue! Make sure you apply it evenly, let it cure properly, and take your time with alignment. Once your backtabs are applied, you're good to go! Swapping back tabs is an easy way to spruce up any Jordan 3 (or 4) in just a few steps.
What do you guys think? Should the Desert Elephant Jordan 3 have come with the Nike Air back tab from the factory?
