I watched your video several times and have just finished spray basting my quilt. it certainly is much easier than pinning on the floor. Am 80 years old and my poor knees can no longer take pain of floor pinning. Will let it dry completely overnight and start my top stitching tomorrow which will be the true test on how this comes out. Am confident that all is well !!! Will keep you posted on the finished results. Again, thank you for the video....was most helpful.

When I need to baste a quilt any larger than lap size I take all the materials down to my church and use the tables in their community room. Anything lap size or smaller I use my full size ironing board. I just plain don't have room anywhere else. Works fine, just inconvenient to have to travel a Q size quilt, batting, backing and pins or sprays. Very, very helpful tutorial (as always!) Thank you!

Thank you, Erica! You made it look so easy and fast! Basting is my least favorite part of quilting since I have to crawl around on hardwood floors to do it, so I will definitely be trying this! One tip…I find a cat “helping” works better than clamps 😹 Take care, Erica!

I am new to quilting and I made this quilt last year! I’m always amazed at how smooth your quilt tops are! Quilting was something that I always found to be so cool. It combines my love of puzzles and blankets. 😝 Your videos have been a great help and as imperfect as my Christmas quilt came out, I absolutely love it! Hoping that the more quilts I make, the smoother my quilts come out. Thank you for all of your content and tips!!

I’ve been floor basting, but my old knees can’t take much more! I like to thread baste. I don’t have as big a table as yours, but I’m planning to do smaller donation quilts now. My family says they have enuf big quilts lol. I’m gonna try the pool noodle method which should be good for my smaller quilt sandwiches. Thanks for your inspiration!!

Wow! This was very nice of you to show us how to table baste. I just finished my first layer cake flannel quilt top. I was going to send it out to get quilted. Now that I've seen how easy it is to baste I think I will just straight stich my quilt. What frightens me is squaring it up. Practice,practice,practice...right!?!😉

I’m totally with you on basting on the floor and I live in a small house so don’t have much room for table basting but I am a pin baster and have looked for an easier way and while using basting spray is so much easier, I cannot due to my asthma, even with wearing a mask. Sometimes on a small project , I’ll take it outside and use a vinyl shower liner to lay it on and spray baste there which works well but I will say that my machine does not love it. It gums up my needles and since I densely quilt - I’ve only used this method for smaller projects. One thing I have done on large quilts is to pay a long arm friend to load it and baste it for me and that has worked really well for me, although I will say that she was NOT happy with me this last time since I double batted with wool and 80/20 (Hobbs) and she could not get it under her hopping foot without adjusting something major.

Interesting! I love seeing how you did this! I’m a big fan of Odif as well. I don’t have a big table but I have a double bed in my guest room. It has become my place to put my quilts together. My only complaint is that I tend to get some of the sticky spray that settles on the furniture. It super hard to get off my wood dresser. I probably won’t stop using this method, but I wish I knew how to cut down on the overspray and how to get it off surfaces.

I am curious how this would work when the quilt is much larger than the table. Your table in this video is wide enough to handle the quilt width, so it's only falling off on two sides instead of all four. I do not have a large enough table to baste a queen size quilt (like the one I just finished). I ended up moving furniture and rolling a carpet back so I could lay everything on the floor, and getting extra paper for the sides so the spray wouldn't get on the furniture or floor itself. That was an ordeal and certainly makes QAYG look a lot more attractive.

I know I might not get an answer, but what kind of table are you using? I really like the size and would like some details about it. Love how you basted this on your table. I did the same one day at a park and used a big picnic table and I did find it so much easier. Thanks!
