Wow, what a motivational video. I must admit I don't understand how clearing all the brush helps the guinea fowl. I'm sure it does, I just don't get it.
@@finneganwoolley6557 thank you for clicking, watching and asking for clarification. I have been staying in this house for 33 years now. Because of clearing of bush for development close to my house, the guinea fowl has moved into the area 8 years ago. Because of further clearing of some more natural habitat for even more development, they have started to breed in this area 3 years ago. This breeding season will be their 3rd year. Last year and the year before council rocked up with their tractor mower to mow the grass slap bang in the middle of breeding season. I thought it cruel to mow over nests with eggs in it in various stages of incubation and also little baby keets that could not possibly get out of the way of a tractor coming towards them. With a lot of drama and fighting I managed to stop this from happening with the agreement and commitment from council that they will clear the plot and mow the grass outside of breeding season which fall between May and September, but true to form promises and agreements are made to be broken. Nothing has happened this year thus far and many neighbours are up in arms because they want the area cut. Most use it for illegal activities like walking their dogs off the leads and quad bike and x motorcycle riding. So the noise they are making are really not for the reasons that they are citing why they feel the grass must be cut. So, to prevent the tractor to come in at this inappropriate time, as the guinea hens have started nesting and are sitting on eggs already, I have decided to cut it myself. At least I can see where their nests are and cut around it, but I made this descision too late and I am running out of time. I am rushing to get as far as I can before the babies arrive which could be anytime from 3 weeks now. But some people are now unhappy that I am cutting and that the tractor is not coming. Hope that explains things for better understanding of what is going on here.

@@SonetLandman Yes, you have to be very careful with those tools. For large lawn areas you can use wheeled mowers, the kind that look like a cart. In fact, today I have to mow the grass at my house, it is an activity that I really enjoy, despite the noise of the machine. A big greeting from Uruguay. Take care of yourself.

The property is zoned for a high school so it belongs to the Provincial Department (Government). But the fight is that they always rock up slap bang in the middle of the breeding season. I must add that the guinea fowl only started breeding here 2 years ago. This year will be their 3rd year. But you do not come in with a tractor and bulldoze over various stages of incubated eggs and hatchlings that cannot move fast enough to get away from a tractor mower. So, I stopped them previous 2 years. They were suppose to cut this year between April to September but nothing happened. So, I thought better start because I don't think I can stop it for a third year in a row because some of the residence wants this cut. They use it as a dog walking park which it really isn't. So they felt the grass was getting to long to walk their dogs. Just loads of drama and issues all the time. And believe you me, those exact same people are now upset that I am cutting. In this world you just cannot please some people.
Where nature is without people there is balance and harmony. When people get involved there is disunity and drama. Thank you for protecting the nests and the hatchlings.

Hi Simone. As you can see I am far from finished. You would think some that drive by on their way to the shop and wave would bring me a cold drink on their way back 😂😂. Some are embarressed and try to avoid me. When I am busy in the veld only a few walk their dogs. I find people strange. They all complained and hated me for stopping the grass being mowed. Then relentlessly started to complain with council for the plot not being mowed and now some are unhappy because I have started to cut the grass. The one guy is upset because I am making it look nice in front of my house and he wants it nice in front of his house as well and then said he is just going to get the tractor to mow the whole plot. But they have already started to sit on their nests. At least I can see them and cut around them. In anycase we'll see how far I manage to get and progress. @@JosephConcerned hi Joe. Hope you are well. They gave me a second hand shield as this model's shield fitting is also the fitting for the blade. Crazy. So you can't move the shield up. And get this: different bushcutter makes have different size shafts. So I can't buy a Stihl shield and fit it on a Hasqvarna. Thanks for watching 🥰
