Thank you for having a nice personality which makes it fun to watch! Thank you Ben, For being such a good sport! May you two have many wonderful years together.
Hello!!! I watched your video on how to take blood pressure for an interview. Today I had to give a mock teaching on how to take blood pressure. Watching your video, and taking ideas from it helped me get the job!!!!! I just want to give thanks to you for that assist!!!
I’m in nursing school and my instructors recommend you all the time. I was struggling with hearing where the diastolic is so I started looking up different videos to understand the systolic sound. I switched my ear tips to a smaller size as well, but no matter what I did I couldn’t get the correct BP. I found this video yesterday before my vital signs assessment and like how you broke down both of the sounds and how to tell them apart. During my assessment I said 140/92 and the correct BP was 140/90! Got it within the 2 point range. Thank you for all that you do!
I’m in the polysomnography program at my school and my teacher spent literally less than 5 minutes on how to take blood pressure and told us it isn’t rocket science. We are all first semester students and our check off is soon, so I thank you for actually taking the time to teach this.
You have just explained this so much better than my Medical teacher!!!! Thank you so much for taking time and making a video about one step and two step Blood pressure, maybe now I will get this right!
+Sadie Richards Wow, thank you so much, Sadie! I'm glad I could help you understand it better. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a comment :) I appreciate your kind comment so much!
I am currently a Student in Enrolled Nursing and have just been introduced to taking blood pressure. It's been quite complicating using the equipment and measuring BP, but after watching this video it has helped me so much.Thank you from Australia!!
Yay! I'm so glad I could help you understand it. I agree it is quite complicating using the equipment and trying to listen all at the same time.....we need more hands lol. It is very awesome you're from Australia......beautiful country :)
Awesome video! I'm an EMT student and we briefly practiced in class. Most of my classmates already knew how to do manual bp and they explained it but I didn't get it. I feel a lot more confident now and can't wait to practice this skill more!
Was never sure how slowly you need to release the air, so thank you! Also, thank you for reminding people to tell their patients what their blood pressure readings are. I always tell people if it’s high, low, or good and exactly what their number is. It’s important for everyone to know what their “normal” blood pressure is.
Thank you so much for this video!! Yesterday we started practicing blood pressure in our clinical skills (very first skill we have to learn) and I felt like I was the only person who didn’t get it. I feel a lot better and more prepared about it now!!
Thankyou, I just started doing blood pressure in my CNA class and am having truble getting BP reading but watching your video really helped me understand a whole lot on how to get manual BP and I hope I can finally get it!! Thanks! Amazing video!!
SO grateful for this video, Nurse Sarah! I'm teaching vital signs to my nursing and allied health students via distance learning (video classroom) and it's SO challenging to teach without the hands on aspect. This is so helpful!
I just subscribed to RegisteredNurseRN, I'm a first year student in SA and tomorrow during our clinical skills, we are going to practice Blood Pressure. I was so nervous, but after watching this video I'm sure tomorrow will be fine Thank you so much Sara ❤❤
whiedaad fortuin I'm a first year as well, this Friday we practice our skill and I wanted to already have an idea going in. Her videos are so helpful and amazing
Nurse in training right now having a hard time finding the brachial artery on my friends and family. I'm unsure if I'm palpating incorrectly but I can't practice blood pressure if I can't find the artery! Then, I watched your video and I was able to locate it every time when you gave the note it's always on the inside of the elbow! Thanks so much!
You are a LIFESAVER! Now i know how to manually measure blood pressure. I will be studying with you for ALL of my nursing skills for school! Thank you soo much! By the way, you and your husband are soo adorable together and are examples of couple goals the way he is your “pracrice dummy”. You’ve earned a subscriber for life!! God bless you both!!
Hello! I just wanted to respond to you and say THANK YOU for the very kind comment. I'm so glad you know how to obtain a manual blood pressure now. I wish you the best in your nursing journey, and thanks for bringing me a long for the journey :)
Awesome video. I get tested tomorrow for Vital Sign competencies for becoming a Medical Assistant. I knew your visual teaching was just what I would need- I was struggling trying to locate the brachial artery! Liked how you gave an anatomy pointer too on how this artery becomes the radial and ulnar artery later. My Mother was a Virginian. I am from Wisconsin. I love a Southern accent. Reminds me of my Mom and my Southern kin. Hush puppies!!! You are doing good, important work. Peace
+Siti Humairah Awesome! I wish you the best re-entering nursing. I'm sure you will do great! Thank you very much for your kind words :) I appreciate them very much!
+kerry king Thank you so much, Kerry! I appreciate it so much! Glad you found the video helpful :) Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. -Sarah
Thanks Sarah. I always like watching medical videos as an EMT so I can learn something new. Like regarding blood clots, i'll be sure to ask my patients that.
Your videos help me so much! I'm in school for my BSN and always watch your videos before my skill evaluations for little tips and tricks. Thank you for explaining it in a way that's understandable to all! 💜
thank you for this! I looked like an idiot in my APII college class when doing bp readings on my classmates. I got home and found your video and have successfully figured it out. Thank you so much for your clear and concise instructions! My professor's instructions were very rushed like this was something we should have already known how to do (which might have been the case). Feeling much more confident now :D
hi, I am so glad you have this video, I work in a hospital as a patient care tech I do almost the same as what a CNA does but a little more. whenever I do a blood pressure on one of my patients and it's too high or low I told my nurses to do it manually but now I am in a nursing program at college and I know I will have to learn to do it manually. I know it is difficult but I refresh from your teaching I hope I can do it better when needed to. thank a lot.( we used the modern day one).
I appreciate this video and excited about your channel! I worked as a medical assistant 18 years ago, but put all that on hold to raise kids. I am ready to jump back in but need some brushing up on a few things. I know you have an updated video on how to take bp, but this one was a little more "dumbed down" and helped more. Thank you
i needed to learn blood pressure in one night! started a new job and have only had the automatic blood pressure training. this was the most helpful video by far! i feel so much better now. thank you!
I just started nursing school and came upon this channel. It is awesome and so helpful!!! Thank you for all the time and effort put into these videos...so grateful!!!
You explained this so much better then my teacher. He showed us your videos in class actually and I was having such a hard time learning on my own. Because of Covid we can’t learn on each other. :( so I’m having to try on my boyfriend and I’m having such a hard time hearing the thumps. But you helped explain it so well.
I am a Medical Assistant student. I am glad to know that I am not the only one who is having a hard time listening to the BP sound. Thank you for your video, it is a great help for me.
+Nancy Cahill Thank you very much for your kind words, Nancy! That is so great you want to be a CNA, and I'm glad my videos can help you. I wish you the absolute best :)
Thank you so much, really helpful, it gave me a full heads up so I can take my mom's blood pressure manually even though I have the Color Doctor blood pressure monitor, but I love to use the conventional manual way. I even practice it on myself. Great video.
Thank you so much for the really kind comment, Carisa. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. I wish you the best in your studies! Greetings to you in Trinidad, West Indies ;-)
thank you! I have a test coming up on this and I'm a visual learner. Love the videos. Keep them coming. Although I am not going for RN but for MRI , a medical assisting class is required for my pre-reqs.
Before seening this video I thought that I knew how to take BP. But your video guided me well enough that now I can get accurate results of my readings. Indeed a great skill for early diagnosis that can save precious lives of the patients. Thanks for such an informative video.
Hi there! Thank you for this awesome video!! Taking general ed classes to apply for the nursing program but I love watching your videos and learning something new every time! Blood pressure was quickly explained in our medical terminology class last semester but your in depth explanation is great!! Makes it very easy to comprehend. Keep up the good work!! :)
You're most welcome, Norma :) I'm so happy the video helped you! Thank you for watching it and for your kind words! I hope my channel can be a resource for you throughout general ed classes and especially when you enter the nursing program!
Thank you so much! If only my instructor explained it this well she literally showed us an example on a student then told us to do it. Not telling us any terms or what to look for and when. I was so stressed out 😩
Thank you for the simple explanation! It's been over a year since I was taught how to use these, and I'm expected to measure BP in my clinical exam tomorrow if my patient is known to be hypertensive
This video really helped break everything down about taking manual blood pressure, and as an OT student this is something that I’m struggling to learn. Thanks for all the tips!
I've known about your RU-vid page for 3 years now! I finally made it into a traditional BSN program at Palm Beach Atlantic University! Looking forward to watching your videos over the next two and a half years. Great job on explaining how to take a proper blood pressure.
Yay! Congrats to you, Gwendolyn! I look forward to seeing you over the next couple of year as you complete your program. Thank you for the comment and for watching my videos!
my prof didnt really take time to explain how this works and just played the heart sounds and expect i know everything! you guys are wonderful! keep doing those videos!
Tomorrow will be my first day of externship as an MA student and I wasn't feeling so comfortable at taking blood pressure. After watching this video, I feel so much better and confident. Thanks for your great videos they help a lot 😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment. I really appreciate it! I'm glad you liked the video. I hope your externship went well today :)
I've learned more (practical skills) from your videos than all my textbooks combined, i think! Plus, it's so pleasing to hear that beautiful, genuine Southern accent in an age where it's quickly disappearing. Color me subbed!...
Thank you so much.I'm a new CNA and sometimes we do not get an accurate reading on the patient with the digital machines so we have to do it manually and so I just needed a refresher course Lol..Excellent demonstration.Thank you..Thank you also to your husband..
I just want to say that I appreciate this video so much. Thank you for explaining everything so thoroughly. I just had lecture on this and my teacher wasn't really explaining it all the way through. I was so lost and had no idea what I was doing but, this video made everything so much easier. Thank you so much!
Hello Mark! It is hard at first to tell which sound is the first (S1) and the second (S2). If you can't hear it at all...then it may be your stethoscope. However, make sure you are placing the diaphragm directly on the artery and avoid placing it over clothes (because this muffles the sound). Also, if you check the carotid pulse in the neck and listen with your stethoscope over the heart at the same time...the "thump" that coincides with the carotid pulse is S1 (the first thump). I have a video that goes in depth with heart sounds if you are interested here: ru-vid.comsearch?query=heart+sounds I hope that helps!
THANK YOU! This video helped alot. My husband just just got diagnosed with high bp and I wanted to learn how I can monitor this way and you made it easy.
Amazing video. I appreciate how you showed us how to determine the numbers for SBP/DBP from the sphygmomanometer. I'm about to practice taking blood pressure right now.
OMG THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH you pretty much went over everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you !!!! I basically fixed my errors with your video. OMG THANK YOU !
Thank you so much for your kind words :) I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and leave this awesome comment. Best wishes in your nursing program!
I just bought a automatic blood pressure moniter and when I used it , the err reading came up. I will buy a manual blood pressure kit. You really helped me a lot, with the instructions. Thank you very much.
This is my first week of RN school. Everyone else in my class learned manual BP in their CNA training so our teacher breezed through it, but I did my class at a school that didn't teach this skill so I've never done it. This video really helped me catch up quickly, so thank you!
+Amber Thiry Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment, Amber! Glad I could help you out :) I wish you the best in nursing school and hope my channel can help you through your journey!
She is the best I could of never made it through my first semester of nursing school without RegisteredNurseRN. She is extremely knowledgable and really help me get through my check out. I appreciate her and I'm so thankful to have found her youtube page
I'm a first year medical student in India, and I wish my physiology teachers are as nice as you. My teachers are always angry and snap at us, I finally understood how to measure bp.
Thank you so much for this great video! My school didn’t bother to explain what we’re actually supposed to listen out for so I was having a hard time up until watching this. Thanks again!!!
Thanks so much for this video! I’m currently in nursing school in this is super helpful. Also, I was so surprised when you turned around and showed how long your hair is!! 😂
