The fee when u get to the airport station is ridiculously expensive they should remove it considering how expensive sydney is already

Yes, I totally agree. I think it is the Sydney Airport Authority is the one charging the Sydney Train Railway Authority. So that cost is being charged to the riding public ☹️. So we the riding public are always the one who pays the cost 😤.

We live a short distance from our station on the upper North Shore line. It's an easy walk to the station and now that lifts have been installed, there's no problem getting to the platform. A quick change at Central and we're at the airport in very little time indeed. OK, there's the airport premium (which is much larger than it need be) but the service itself is good. At one stage, I was doing quite a bit of work at a provincial Victorian town. I needed to be at the airport in time to check myself and a couple of large bags in, to catch the 6 am flight to Melbourne. That was an occasion to get a taxi to the airport. But on the way home, landing back in Sydney about 5.15 pm, the train was the only sensible choice. The same with private travel both in and outside Australia - with the extra flexibility private travel usually gives, who'd take a taxi when the train is just there?

That’s great to know that a lift 🛗 has been installed in your train station. That really helps travellers with luggage and mothers with prams. Yes, I totally agree that the train is one of the better option to get to the city fast especially during late afternoon arrivals where passengers scamper to get a taxi 🚕 to get out of the airport. You can be stranded there for hours just to get a taxi. Train is there as an option to get you going.

There is now only Wollstonecraft station from the Bridge to Hornsby which does not have a lift. It does not need one as there are very easily graded ramps to give access to both South and North platforms. The South platforms at both Gordon and Lindfield do not need them to give access to the street just outside, but each has a lift and stairs for the island platform and to give access to a pedestrian bridge which gives access to the street on the western side of the station. A bit of trivia - the usual railway terms Up and Down have not been used since about a year after the line was built. A simple reason - what would normally be called the Up line is downhill save for a couple of very brief level sections. Passengers and railway staff both had trouble calling a continuously downhill line the Up line and vice versa. South and North do away with the problem.@@bee2fast

@@doubledee9675 Hopefully Wollstonecraft station will have their own lift in the future. The ramp works for now.

Sorry, I'd written a reply which seems to have vanished. The ramps at Wollstonecraft to both north- and south-bound platforms are very gentle, and there's really no need for a lift. If you're able to use a train, you could easily manage the ramps. In addition, installing lifts would be very expensive, as you'd need one each for the platforms. It's not an island platform. @@bee2fast ntle
