Goats generally don't do well when tethered. They can't protect themselves from predators, and often get tied up in the line.

It would be best to get another goat of similar size and age to yours.

Depending on the sex if it is a buckling that you have I’d say get another buckling as to have a comrade. Once you see how you manage the bucks you could add on more area for the does and fence them separately. A male goat can mate a young doe and she will have a much higher risk of death.

I have two guinea pigs! And they are shockingly a lot of work!!! So if you are committed you would be able to get a guinea pig and they are GREAT companions! :) but the goats I'm not sure I know the goats at my barn that I ride at kinda just rome around and strive by them selves but I'm not really sure about goats

I have a guinea pig, and she is my love. But I really want a goat. If I could pick, I'd pick a goat. Because, prior to beliefs, they can be just as kind, and loyal as dogs. They'll follow you everywhere. But Guinea pigs are also great companions, my pig is so precious. But whatever you do, please do lots of research on both, so you know which is better for you, and how to care properly for them. Enjoy!

It's definitely not recommended. Especially because if it gets lonely and bored (which it would without a companion no doubt) there is a big chance it can destroy your house without some serious goat proofing and possibly eat something that can hurt it.

And you have a lot more to take into consideration. Can I train them to use a litter box? Do I have a local vet that can provide it vet care? Can I get it a companion? Can I get it the necessary hays, grains, and minerals? Am I home enough to supervise and make sure it doesn't get into anything like cords that can harm it? They aren't animals that you get just to show off. They are a TON of work and you have to be certain you can give it what it needs and they need a lot. In my opinion it's just a no as far as keeping goats indoors.

So have I. First I heard of this companion thing is a Facebook group. And it gets spread like gospel. Sigh...

Goats are social animals and should have at least one companion at all times. In the wild they live in herds and it should be the same in captivity. For example, guinea pigs and parakeets can live alone but they won't be happy as both are social animals. Even though guinea pigs, parakeets and goats are all very different animals something they all share is they need a companion. I have 21 goats and they are all very happy in their herd. You don't need 21 goats to make them happy but you should have at least 2 like I said. If you are content with your goat living but not being as happy as it could be keep doing what you're doing I guess but if you really want to make your goat happy do not hesitate to get another one. It's the best decision you can make in my opinion. Even though your goat is not wild it still has that wild instinct and it still will always be a herd animal and it is not fair to change that. I highly suggest you look more into the topic before assuming your goat is happy being alone. People don't get the whole "goats are social animals" thing from nowhere. People base a proper pet diet from what they eat in the wild. People also see if a certain animal needs a companion based on their wild behaviors. I hope you choose to get another goat but I can't force you to do anything and it's all your decision.
