Glad you liked it Roy! I’ve got a new camera I’m playing around with for the next few vids so I can move around a bit more and it follows me. Hopefully this one will get people propagating this winter with confidence!! 🥷🌿👌

You’re welcome! Well it may seem easy to me (having done it a billion times) but for the beginner showing it a few times close up always helps! 🥷🌿👌

This was such a great video..close-ups on how to cut on the actual stem 👏. Will be trying the technique on a buddleia. Do you have a similar video for apple trees? I have a miniature one (3ft-4ft) and have no idea what I’m doing every year (even though I’ve read up on it), I just keep my fingers crossed!

Great tutorial, thank you Lee. Would this work for Mock Orange?
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 9 месяцев назад
Yes it would but mock oranges and philadelphus tend to take faster if you use softwood cuttings. I have a video here on that too. They’re a bit slow in the winter you see. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KRxEh05E5iI.htmlsi=0rOKDgogWO6z8GAo Happy propagating! 🥷🌿👌

Great video Thank You so much. I have just bought an expensive little fir tree. Could I take cuttings from this now does anyone know please? Thanks Natalie
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 8 месяцев назад
Hi Natalie. First and coniferous trees are best taken using heel cuttings. This is done by taking the fresh tip usually in spring and pulling off a slither of the bark with it. Then rooting hormone is applied and potted on the same way as hardwood cuttings. If you google it you’ll see. They are slow growing though for the most part so remember that! 🥷🌿🤘

Do the amount of buds of the cutting matter..? Or as long as there is one at the bottom?
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 9 месяцев назад
For slower rooting plants like Roses some say it’s best to have at least 2-3 buds below soil. But for faster shrubs one to two is best. For roses go for the 30cm longer length and bury more buds. Same with holly which can take a while! 🥷🌿👌

For those people who are into English units, 15 cm is 6 inches . . . We are in England and we should use English units!
@Gardenninja
@Gardenninja 12 дней назад
You do know imperial moved to metric in 1965. Use whichever but claiming one is ‘English’ is irrelevant. 😂😂😂
