Honestly pre-recorded lectures have been my fave part of lectures during COVID. I can rewind, fast-forward, and take my time taking notes rather than rush myself.

I love this video but at 3:17 the audio dims and there is no sound up until later in the video. I can’t remember it being this way when I first found this video but I’m bringing it to your attention so that if it can be fixed others would be able to hear everything. You made me feel so much better about reading 😭 bc some people think it’s a waste of time especially when you have multiple chapter test coming up. There’s no way you can complete a study guide w/o the knowledge

N E V E R listen to people, always do what’s right for YOU! If you feel the need to read to help you better understand concepts then so be it, yes it may take longer but at the end of day YOU’LL benefit! 🤞🏽I enjoy reading the text myself as well! Don’t listen to people, everyone is different 💕 keep doing what YOUR DOING as long as your getting the results YOU desire!

This! The textbook is what i refer to the most. Ppt and lectures comes second. Anything else (like quizlet or youtube) is supplementary. I use that when the textbook, lectures, and ppts are not enough for me to understand a concept.

Dominique Dooley I’v learned that if i highlight to much it becomes a distraction for me, but I love to highlight subheading especially if it’s a list of things that are needs to be memorized and applied. Things that are in chronological order. For example, the foundation of the pharmacology nursing process. Your video is amazing! Keep up the great work Queen. 💓

YES girl honestly I’m a reader I love to read and write physical notes through my textbooks in my pre req classes and that’s what got me As throughout my sciences! I was scared because people would say reading was a waste of time in nursing school but that is the way I retain information with note taking. Thanks for the tips sis!

Dominique Dooley hi, i just started an accelerated nursing program. I am so overwhelmed not because i dont understand what is being thought in class. I also do have time to study even though i have a 4months old baby. My problem is, i am terrible at studying. I think i dont know how to study. It take me way too much time to finish a single lecture. To day for an example, i used almost the whole day to finish just half of one lecture. My question is, how do i take notes on my ipad like the way you do it and also how are to able to finish 3 topics in one day?

Hi! This video is extremely helpful and I plan on using your study techniques for x ray school! I’m in my second semester and still trying to find an effective study routine. I’m trying to figure out did you use an app to the notes with 3 slides per page? I noticed you used blackboard I’m using canvas. Do I have to download an app for the notes to appear like yours

@dominiquedooley I’ve just finished watching your videos on how to study. My practice is Massage Therapy. I’m not in class yet. I start in May, but I’ve always had to work harder then most to succeed and this is no different. My question is can this information still be applied a month in advance? It’s kind of hard for me to self teach but I’m going to do my best. Do you have any advice for me? I love your detailed videos too!

I’m currently in my first block nursing of an accelerated BSN program, what do you recommend with ebooks reading the material … the material seems so much worse rather than a physical book. You study exactly like I do, rewatch lectures, read my book, take notes on both lecture and book, create flash cards from book notes, lecture notes and slides. How many hours a day do you study? I’m a pre nursing student and this method helped me pass my A&P class with an A. But I found myself studying and finishing all these steps days later and spent hours a day finishing up:(

When I do study, it’s typically 2-5 hrs; keep in mind I do not study everyday. & yes the method we do takes time; however, it may help if you split it up and try not to do everything in one sitting? Or if you feel as though it’s too too much, consider going from flash cards to a word document possibly. I know for semester 2 I’ll try that but for now, I need to finish strong so I’ll “experiment” next semester lol. I may only make flash cards for things I’m having trouble remembering, and not everything.

Hi Dominique I would like to have your point of view on using fragrance oils on my hair ... I bought one but I feel like it has too much perfume in it and perhaps have a bad effect instead of a positive one on my hair. What do you think ? xoxo

aw it means a lot that u want my opinion; BUT, which oil are you using(the name and brand)? I try to stay away from oils with all kinds of fragrances/scents because they 9/10 have alcohol in them which =dry hair! I always reach for an argon oil or olive oil. Keep it natural! 💕

Hey, my name is Tahj! I am currently taking Pre-req courses for Nursing and I really believe this video will help me better take notes in class I am currently taking A&P and Psych. Unfortunately exactly at timestamp 3 mins 14 secs the sound cuts out and I can hear anything until the end of the video when you begin to talk about searching RU-vid to better understand the material. I do not use an app, I download my notes and write on them. This then allows me to use the PowerPoint! ❤️

Yeah so I just high light what’s important & write in the book little notes to make me better understand or little mnemonics to help me remember something. After reading I move to the flashcards with all the material from all 3 sources!

A month late, but open ppt, go to print>print layout> 3 to a page and powerpoint will automatically put the lines there for you.

So do you actually take notes in class with paper and pencil or do you jot things down on the iPad like you are doing in this video or do you record your lectures while in class? I see that you keep mentioning an audio in the video.

When I say audio, my school provides us with an audio on our school portal with a professor going over the chapter. When I’m in class I do not use pencil and paper I use my iPad on those same notes from the audio; however I use a different color so I can easily distinguish what I got from the audio online and what I got while in lecture class. My school does not allow us to voice record them, we can be dismissed from the program this way.

I don't know if it's just me, but the audio cuts out around 3:17. I tried watching on my phone on the RU-vid app then through a web browser and then on my laptop and still no audio, so the CC cuts off too.

I do not use an app, I download my notes from my school -they provide us with the PowerPoint with lines which makes it super easy to take notes. If you have access to your PowerPoints, you can easily convert them into notes!

I’m not sure, you’d have to research other ways to write on slides without an iPad. & I don’t use an application, I just take my slides & press “markup.”

If you have an ipad or touch screen laptop, you can use word document or one note which has a "write to text" function. You write and then it converts to text 😊 you can use that to make notes and also practice your handwriting. Also if you're a visual learner, draw diagrams regardless of your handwriting. Especially spider diagrams
