Why do you wait till day 14 and not sooner? I'm currently on day 8 post op

A white cast is on the nose for the first 7 days and then the flesh colored tape is applied for the next seven days but does not come off during that time. On day 14 you begin taping only at night.

Does it matter if one wing of the U-shaped tape happens to be longer?

No. Just that it pulls up evenly.
