Amen 🙏🏾. You will know a tree by the fruit it bears. If that tree does not bear good fruits, which is the fruits of the Holy Spirit, it is barren or unfruitful - no Holy Spirit. Be filled with the Spirit.

@@bman5257 where are you getting the notion that angels are filled with the Holy Spirit? I'm not aware of any place in Scripture that teaches such.
@bman5257

@@DiscipleDojo I was connecting it to holiness. In my mind, being filled with the Holy Spirit is being sanctified and the holy angels are sanctified. On another level this verse is about not judging based upon appearance. If any stranger could be a sinless angel, then how do you know any stranger you might meet might simply have God’s favor and be filled with his Spirit.

Do you have any advice for a spiritually dry person? I've been a Christian for a few years after reading the gospels but I've never had a spiritual experience. I love to nerd out on the Bible but I'm very spiritually dry. I think the main issue for me is fear of spiritual things. And also the concept of feeling God is so incomprehensibly big to me it's scary
@DiscipleDojo
@DiscipleDojo 18 дней назад
@@finnmartan4629 my first advice is to find a community of Christians you can talk about and explore this with, so that your assumptions about what "a spiritual experience" needs to look like. I would also encourage you to spend some time with authors like Richard Foster, Dallas Willard, Philip Yancy, Henri Nouwen, C.S. Lewis' fiction, and some in the Christian mystic tradition like Watchman Nee, St. John of the Cross, and William Law...not seeking to emulate them or agree with everything, but to get a wider view of Christian spirituality that moves beyond modern cookie-cutter Christianity.

@finnmartin4629 Find worship music you like...theres ALOT on you tube... I have a public Playlist you can check out and look through if you want.... and just sit in your room or where you're comfortable and sing to God. Pray (talk) to Him like you would with a friend and worship!!!! Seek Him!!!

Also, I felt the same way. It was suggested to me that I start praying more often asking God to come closer to me and to start reading my Bible every single day without fail. This has helped me tremendously ❤hope it helps you too!

Anyone who believes and is baptized, has received the Holy Ghost, and if they have not apostatized, they still have Him.
@DiscipleDojo
@DiscipleDojo 19 дней назад
@@DrGero15 but are they yielding to and following Him...or quenching and disobeying Him. That is the heart of the question. Many people think of the Holy Spirit as a tattoo rather than the indwelling Comforter who leads us from the heart in community and in accordance with Scripture.

@DrGero15 19 дней назад
@@DiscipleDojo If they don't yield and follow they are on the road to apostacy. One can not serve two masters. I would strongly agree treating Him as a tattoo, as one sees in the OSAS/Eternal Security doctrine, is deeply dangerous, and leads to massive amounts of apostacy where ever it is taught.

In Acts 8 it says that the new Samaritan disciples who had just come into the faith had been baptized in water, but had not yet received the Holy Spirit, so they called for the apostles to come lay hands on the Samaritans to receive the Holy Spirit. This seems much more like a definitive moment when the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit after the laying on of hands of the apostles. How would this reconcile with the idea that they could know they had received the Holy Spirit over time as they saw a change in their lives? It seems like they knew one moment they didn't have it, but the next moment they did.
@DiscipleDojo
@DiscipleDojo 18 дней назад
@@apocryphanow yes, they had been Baptized. But in that chapter it seems that it may have been something similar to what John the Baptist had been doing--a conversion washing indicating repentence among the people of Israel (Samaritans were not Jews, but they were Israelites, and were familiar with mikvot). So in order to make sure they were given the full New Covenant Gospel, as opposed to a water Baptism like John's or some of the Essene ritual washings, the Apostles sent Peter and John to "complete the process", so to speak. I'm not aware of any other such events happening after these early days in the book of Acts or the rest of the NT, though I may be wrong. But the question the viewer asked was specifically about receving the Holy Spirit when specifically supernatural/ecstatic occurances *aren't* present.

The Holy Spirit is in your spirit when you receive Christ as your savior. He COMES UPON you whenever He wants. Everyone has a different experience or experiences. Hands were layed on me when i was 12 at a youth convention. I began speaking in tongues. I saw gold beams of light coming off my hands. Some are baptised in the Holy Spirit in private. For example Donald Trump could have had the Holy Spirit come upon Him when crying out to God as he ducked to the ground during the shooting...thanking God (if he did) This would be God revealing His power to us when we see something He has done for us... like saving our life. God comes upon us when He wants. It can be anytime anywhere. It is just His power being displayed for us. Ever get emotional and cry while worshipping, but do not know why? Feel the presence of God or chills? Witness about Jesus to someone, and the words just flow out of your mouth, and you feel a tingling? Thats usuallly the Holy Spirit coming upon you although He is IN you! He is ALWAYS dwelling in believers. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God DWELLS IN YOU. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Romans 8:9 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has COME UPON YOU, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Act 1:8

The things you describe as being indicators of being filled with the spirit, with love joy peace patience goodness kindness and so on, are so very subjective as to be useless in separating any people from any others. The people I know with the greatest concern for others and those other qualities you talk of, are not practicing Christians, some have a belief in a God, others not. Those qualities certainly do not directly correlate with a belief in the Christian God. You know JM, it makes sense that you like C.S.Lewis. This sounds like one of his arguments, as if how you feel abut things is some sort of indicator of truth.

@@joestfrancois don't confuse being generally "nice" or "ethical" with a life that has been radically transformed by the grace of the Gospel. @@DiscipleDojo wrote "nerally "nice" or "ethical" with a life that has been radically transformed by the grace of the Gospel." No, lives are radically "transformed" both for good and for bad all of the time. That means nothing. You have still been unable to demonstrate someone is "receiving and affirming and actively yeilding (sic) to the Spirit." JM, your assertions here are just wishful thinking. I know several people who do not believe in a god who have taken their life from nearly wasted from addiction and depression to that of a satisfied contributing member of a family, who care for strangers and try to be "good," to their understanding of that idea. You have made no point in this vid. "Filled with the Spirit" cannot be objectively determined, it can't be shown to exist.

@@joestfrancois "there is nothing that can be measured about a person that claims to have been "filled with the Holy Spirit." "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother." 1 John 3:4-10

My Bible says Holy Spirit was “poured out on ALL FLESH”. We all have Holy Spirit. The difference is your yielding to the relationship with Him as to the fruit that comes. He is a free gift from Jesus and we cannot do anything to earn HS including “accepting” him. (This is a fallacy that comes from separation theology) PS we are always in relationship with God. He does not do abandonment. Again, your opening up to this relationship in key. Which comes through His revealing Himself to us. I know this is contrary to a lot of teaching out there but check out the early church fathers before Augustine introduced Greek philosophy into the church.
@DiscipleDojo
@DiscipleDojo 19 дней назад
@@shanegross3641 I will stay with what Scripture says. Just as "all the world" did not literally come to buy grain from Joseph, "all flesh" is a prophetic figure of speech similar to "all" the earth. Pentecost marked the beginning transition into the covenant epoch that Jeremiah and Ezekiel and Joel envisioned. Romans 8, however, is pretty clear that not every person is filled with the Spirit irrespective of their covenant relationship with Messiah..
