How to tell if your 6.0 Powerstroke has been "bulletproofed"

Bulletproof is a term coined by the company bulletproof diesel. To be bulletproofed you need to run their products (4 out of 5 by their website's standards). Simply replacing the head bolts with head studs with new head gaskets is only "studding" the truck.

Um lol don't but a Ford 6.0 period 6.4 same pos not some miracle science behind the process the international 7.3 didn't break didn't need upgrades n actually had decent gaskets on it. Anyway for to use the international had to also purchase so much inventory of parts each year. Well nothing breaks so no parts are used over the years and Ford began to loose money. The 6.0 is an attempt to copy the 7.3 but to induce fail points as to create repeat business and possibly use up some international shelf wasting parts.

My understanding according to my dad's explanation is the stock bolts they used are meant to stretch to torque. So when people tune them it increases pressure causing them to stretch too far thus a gasket failure. It's a bad design idea on the manufacturer part to have bolts that are meant to stretch in a place meant to be tightly sealed. So the fix is studs that don't stretch. Obviously they still stretch without tuning as well but increasing the stock power increases pressure. Towing heavy things increases the pressure. Basically unless your just using it as your daily driver and not hauling things heavy or tuning it to increase power it may never fail. If your using it for what it's meant for it probably will.

This is what he said he has posts. 2003 4x4 6.0 powerstroke , the odometer has 320,000, I replaced the engine and transmission 6 months ago, the engine had 150,000 miles and I have used it for maybe 20,000 more miles, HEADS STUD I put new injectors, the turbo was rebuilt, I put new pulleys, serpentine belt new, new oil cooler, has a tuner edge is older version but works great for me in economy mode. I had 2 6.0s a 04 dually studded and deleted ran gear head srl ++ and a 06 stock they both had a lot of issues yes they can run well but for how long theirs alot of things people dont understand about them you really have to monitor alot of things on them and for an average joe they will plain out fail faster . I sold them both and bought a 2000 7.3 it may be slow but it gets the job done , no gasket failure no hpop failure no egr shit ect....and half the cost for mantience

@raul salazar its all about the care you give it FROM DAY ONE OF THE ENGINES LIFE. Starting on second owner or 200,000 miles is like losing weight and quitting smoking after you’ve been 600lbs and smoked for 45 years. You’ve really set yourself up for failure. You can’t even spell right so are you sure you did the maintenance that the book says and didn’t skip any steps? (Maintenance =mantience)

We have to still have a source for the medium duty International trucks running the VT365s and the VT275 in the LCF. You can’t just EGR delete a commercial truck and expect to get away with it in most states. Especially not these days. It was hard enough to mess with trying in 2010. There’s still fleets running them - especially in school bus land. The irony is they refuse to sell them to anyone unless they can provide a Ford VIN number. Which is a huge pain considering the bulk of 6.0L engines went into international trucks and weren’t sold to Ford for use in the Super Duty. I guess nobody told them.

The bullet proof diesel EGR cooler is a lot better than the stock one. We used to put them on VT365 (the 6.0 in its International truck), and VT275 (Ford LCF... it’s the V6 version). If you are commercial and don’t have the option to delete the emissions system - works out great. They lasted longer by a long shot. The lowest mileage one when we got rid of the last one was sitting at 700,000 and change. We made them run and got our life out of them. It’s interesting to see people still talking about them in their Ford applications. ARP head studs you can get cheaper from other vendors.

The valve covers have one or two studs and the 11oclock bolts are sometimes studs for wiring grounds and stuff like that. The headbolts are either bolt or studs if it’s bolts then it’s factory period.
