I'd say this is a video about damage which leads to thinning. However thinning is also a normal process as we age. Drops in estrogen during premenopause and menopause can cause hair thinning. Others causes: genetics, extreme weight loss, stress, certain medications (like cancer treatments), cerain chemical deficiencies and diseases such as PCOS. Also wearing certain hairstyles aka traction alopecia.
My hair used to look like that when i was a kid. My mom refused to let me use conditioner for my hair and since i started using it my hair has been way better. Now I have dyed hair and it's still smooth and shiny
She failed to mention hormonal, environmental or medicinal influences. It's not just damage you do to yourself from heat styling or chemicals in products.
