Yes, we use military time but it is not very common and it is used in a formal context. To use it just make the rule Hour+Minutes plural, and make sure you learn the numbers from 12 (doce) to 24 (veinticuatro) to give the hour. Sería, por ejemplo: Son la trece horas, quince minutos (Es la una y cuarto). Son las veintidós horas, veinte minutos (Son las diez veinte), and so on.

In the UK we can also say "it's twenty to twelve" so "son veinte para las doce" works for me. Great videos Ana, keep it up!

Wow, she has that "Penelope Cruz" cuteness to her. This really helps in learning because she is having fun, so that helps us in learning. So many teacher are boring. Why do I want to learn something boring? I learn more from these videos than from my Spanish teacher (She is too fast, and doesn't explain ANYTHING). Thank you!

Spain was ruled by Muslims from 711 to 1492. We have a lot of words comming from Arabic, even my city's name is from Arabic.

Nice video, very helpful - normal UK English would say 5 past 1 rather than 5 after one. We say past until 30 min when we then say half past and then usually measure the time to the next hour. So 1 35 is 25 to 2

Falta un minuto para la una. Son las doce y cicuenta y nueve. Una para la una is correct but sounds funny, I rather round it and say ¨es la una¨ tell you the truth.

I love this girl she's fantastic. Keep up the good work of teaching us your language Ana and keep posting more videos. You are doing an excellent job. I love Spanish ( even though I am a beginner ) I fell in love with the language years ago even though I couldn't speak it or understand it but I loved the sound of Spanish and still do. Hi. Very nice video. I am a Spanish teacher and I hate when books teach with "menos." I always teach the students with "para," so I appreciated this. However, I have never heard anyone say the time without using Y. You say "las dos diez" instead of "las dos y diez." I surveyed many Spanish speaking friends and they all concur that one always uses the word Y. So, I''m wondering if not using Y is a regionalism. I've never heard of not saying it. It is often aspirated/swallowed, but is spoken. I suggest putting a note on the screen at that point in the video.

Yes, we spanish speakers also use the AM and PM, but is more used in formal cases or when you want to speak very polite.

it's so weird! in school we were thought that (example) 2:50 would be 3 take 10 (minutes), tries menos diez I always saw that Spanish was similar to my national language (Polish), so I was wondering why it was so different because of "menos" that we learned, now I know that it is similar after watching this video!
