Quality video! Steve and the team at TIS are absolute super stars. Endless support for apprentices and sparks alike. Plus the MFT pro+ and EVSE100 adaptor is the best value product on the market. Challenge anyone to prove me wrong.

Great video. Assuming as you set it to three phase you would just repeat the tests for the other two phases as only L1 was tested?

Why is the thumbs up yellow instead of green on some of the tests?

Will you be looking to do the same for the Megger MFT + EV Tester.

Why is the Pfc shown as 1.17kA when the Zs is shown as 0.15 ohms. I thought Pefc would be Voltage (240) divided by Impedance (0.15) i.e 1.60kA rather than 1.17kA displayed.

The reason PFC reads 1.17kA is due to the following BS7671 correction factors: Nominal Voltage should be 230V x 0.95 Temperature correction factor is 0.8 Therefore, 230V x 0.95 = 218.50V 218.50V x 0.8 = 174.80V/0.15Ohms = 1,165.33A 👍

@@testinstrumentsolutions Surely this is a miss-application of Cmax and Temp Correction factors. I thought these factors were designed for use in calculating the Max measured Zs of a circuit which would result in a current not TOO LOW to ensure disconnection of the protection device within the prescribed time. i.e. to be on the safe side, we calculate the current based on the lowest supply voltage (with fluctuations) and the highest loop impedance due to preheated cables. Surely the whole point of measuring the Pfc is to ensure that the highest possible fault current will NOT be TOO HIGH to prevent the protective device from disconnecting due to arcing etc. i.e. to be on the safe side we determine the highest possible current. Therefore we should assume the highest voltage and lowest loop impedance. Measured voltage was 240V (no nominal; no Cmax). And contacts will already be fused closed by the time the cable reach 70C; so NO allowance for thermal effect on impedance.

@@geraldelwood9660 You’re right Gerald. When did the method of applying factors start when taking live test measurements? Live test results are what they are, thats the point of them not to start applying factors and altering them. As you say, application of factors are design stage and for calculation. I’d of thought either efixx or TIS would’ve been back to clear this up by now
