This is the most thorough video I've seen on RU-vid in demonstrating how to measure a transistor. I am an extreme novice currently in the process of trouble-shooting a PCB and this was so helpful in clarifying the process. Thank you!

I tested my Diode, Transistor (PNP/NPN) in my radio kit using this video. All worked exactly as it did on your test. I found it easier however to put the transistor into the breadboard and connect a wire from each lead of the transistor to one end of an LED terminal. I used the top springs for a PNP and bottom springs for a NPN which made it easy to see how they both worked the same, yet in reverse current of each other. Thanks for this video.

I really enjoying your videos. My questions are written below. 1. Why we use a resister with collector for NPN- transiter and how can we select its value? 2. If I use NPN- transister then why the capacitor and diode are advisable to use in parallel, connecting emitter and collector, and how can we select T, D and C values? 3. How can we select a transister ? 4. How to stop the harmful frequencies effect on a simple circuit of multiple transistors?? Please answer all the questions, thanks!

finally very clear , i was always in the dark with the arrow and line and never took the effort to fully solve the ambiguity of the diode icon or direction of current paths this for me was about 30 years of diode icon darkness best video yet on this to clarify this thanks and its easier for me to learn with these vids than actual highschool

Hello Martin, These videos are AMAZING for "newbies" to Ham Radio and electronics!!! People tell me, "just put the red probe on this and the the black one on that and put the dial here and this is what you should get." That's fine, but you show is HOW this all works, especially your paper drawings and how you put the test probes on those spots--GENIUS!! Thank you, Thank you. I will now look through the videos to see if you have one on Potentiometers; if not can you make one? 73, Rich, W2RRK

Nice video indeed! Thanks M8, been working on trying to breath life back into my old 10 meter Ham tube amp, found the PNP transistor looks like it got hot at some point in time. I studied and followed your video and applied the concept which I am having a reading of 0.002V between the emitter and the base, next step is removing it then try to see if I can't get some written info off it using magnifying glass. 73 from Steve, KC3AZT.

Thank you for this video, it really helped. I have watched many other videos how to check transistors, but yours explained everything. I liked the way you explained the transistor by representing it as two diodes. And thanks for mentioning that pinout may be different in different transistors, i thought base is always in the middle)))

Great video as always. Not wanting to split hairs, but they are not so much circuit diagrams of transistors as schematic symbols. In themselves they don't form a circuit. Love watching your videos, no matter how long you work with electronics there is always something new to learn or a forgotten detail to be refreshed.

Very good tutorial. I like how you keep repeating the important stuff, it helps me retain the information. You're also better than the majority with your closeup camera work. I'd love to see some techniques on figuring out the pinout without a datasheet. You did a fantastic job on this video. The music volume at the end is a little loud, but great video.
