How to Test an EGR Valve 

Is it good or bad? DECIDE!

Was the vacuum test failure not enough to justify replacement of the part, or was the fact that it held liquid until vacuum was applied enough evidence to reuse it?

Appreciate the video! My EGR is a PITA spot on my wife’s 06 Altima…if I have to pull it off just going to replace it!

I have one that looks like the top and inside is a rubber seal that's ripped. How can I replace that rubber seal inside the round part on top of the EGR you showed in the video.

If it's not hold a vacuum, then why bolt it back on?

My 96 f150 302 (5 L) EGR valve holds vacuum extreemly well but applying vacuum does mot move the pintel valve. The valve is not showing carbon and moves freely with light hand pressure using a punch or screwdriver. As though tne valve is detached from the diaphram. ???

I have '95 Roadmaster that is having a little trouble passing NOx. W/ the EGR off the car I can hand vacuum pump it up and it holds as well as when I place it on the car. But, when I let the car idle it wont pump up w/ the hand vacuum. Is there something going on in the intake for this odd behavior? I cleaned the EGR w/ Seafoam before. Thx

The rubber diaphragm is probably shot and needs a new egr valve as it won't hold vacuum.

I HAD A SMOKE TEST RUN ON MY ACURA TL TODAY ON THE EGR AND SMOKE WAS COMING OUT , DOES IT MEAN I HAVE REPLACE THE EGR OR AN I CLEAN IT

Does the high heat damage the rubber rtv?

okay so its a bad valve because it doesnt hold vacuum, but because it only leaks fluid when the vacuum is applied its good?

Need some guidance here, I did a smoke test for vacuum leaks on my Ford and one of the places smoke was coming from was the vent holes on the bottom of the diaphragm part of the egr. The smoke isn’t coming through the little vacuum line though, because that still holds vacuum and opens and closes the egr properly. The smoke is coming through the intake side of the egr. Further investigation showed that I could suck a decent amount of air through the egr even when it was closed. Anyone know if this is supposed to vent this way? Any guidance or advice would help alot

Oh boy. Lol It's not holding pressure throw it out.

If it doesnt hold a vacuum then you wont get soot in your intake.

hi, can an egr valve on a 642 motor cause it to blow white smoke at low temperature
