You are missing an important point. The RC time constant of this capacitor is about 10 seconds (1 microfarad x 10 megohm). This means that a functioning capacitor will not only show 10 megohms resistance but will charge up in about 10 seconds. That's what your capacitor did. If the resistance had gone to 10 megohms immediately, it would mean the that capacitor is essentially out of the circuit and is faulty.

I have a microwave that blows the breaker and the fuse is fine? Tested the old one and it was fine but installed a new one anyway and still blows the breaker. It’s like a dead short.

Hey There 2 issues that we can look at. (1) The circuit is overloaded (2) microwave is faulty (1) microwave requires a breaker of 20Amp if you have many loads that exceed the rating of the Breaker. it can cause the circuit to trip, but to know if this is true ..... before you connect your microwave make sure its the one on the circuit or find another circuit with a higher rating. If it works consider give it its own circuit. if it does not then the microwave is faulty... Hi... My capacitor does not show the ohms number on its sticker... but when I did test, as you showed, the multimeter quickly shows numbers and thereafter goes back to 1. I also would like to know, if it's damaged, whether that could have been cause for the magnetron to get damaged?
