I tried your soap and let me tell you, it’s amazing. The lather, the smell, the feel on the skin…everything is great. Question, do you use more than 5% super fat?
@TheSoapGal
@TheSoapGal Год назад
Thank you, that is very nice of you. It is at a 7% super fat

@@TheSoapGal Would you say it's okay to super fat 100 Olive oil Castile soap up to that percentage?
@karijaneify
@karijaneify Год назад
@@raffiandtania6022 A 5% superfat is often the norm. For a pure 100 percent olive oil soap, 7 percent superfat is unnecessary as it's high in oleic fatty acids and very gentle on the skin; has no lauric or myrisitic fatty acids ( which are the ones that can be drying for the skin. Olive oil soaps are very " thirsty" and absorb a lot of water and often become sticky and stay soft so keeping them well drained between uses is vital. (Personally I'd recommend a 3% superfat for any soap recipe with 20% or less coconut oil; it helps reduce the chance of rancidity, and reduces the amount of free oil(unsaponified oil) going down your pipes. (just ask a plumber!)
