I feel horrible too, Especially since i know they are alive. So sad.... I have a huge pumpkin mess in my front yard.... They are growing all over so big and beautiful and very close together. This my second time growing a garden and first time being successful. I just wanted to see if i could be successful and like i said i just couldn't get rid of the other plants that were growing healthy. My garden looks as though its going to take over my front yard lol! I do have to say I have learned so so much this spring and summer. Next year will be good! I truly got lucky! I love gardening it has been so rewarding in many ways! I love watching the bees fly around pollinating the flowers, life is beautiful and amazing!

Yeap. I'm watching pumpkin videos after I already have a cluster of vines waaaaay too close to each other. My are growing BRUTALLY even that I neglected the soil nutrition, but where I place them they get good sunlight 1/2 of the day and also they're close to two sprinklers. I need to fertilize and attack beetles and hope for the best.

The best pumpkin (kent) vine I've seen, was in a customer's back yard. It was behind a water tank, which overflowed to water it. She never planted it or fed it. She had heaps of vine and pumpkin. I've tried everything but cannot replicate her pumpkin.

I am the same as you with my plants in fact I have planted a pumpkin patch too close to eachother but it is braking my heart to kill them so I will simply add compost on the patch to give them more nurishment and see what happens. Nex year I will make sure not to make the same mistake. Love and light
@AwesomestGreatestMostestFunny
I did the same thing this year and I also buried the vines where I saw roots coming out to allow them to take in more water and nutrients.

Do you recommend just one pant per type in a backyard garden? Right now I have 4 varieties in raised garden beds. Baby boo, Casper, Gourds and Jack o Lanterns - Should I cut the smaller one for each variety and leave just the one plant to grow? I've never done this before so any and all advice is appreciated!

This year will be my first time growing pumpkins. Your videos are excellent, very informative and helpful. My question is how soon did you add the fertilizer? Keep up the great work!! I subbed you.

Instead of a circular mound, you can do a linear mound and you could keep That vine you had to cut, even though it was a fast grower. and if something doesn’t germinate, it’s perfectly fine it’s just more space between plants.

I am curious why you didn't just plant 2 seeds so they were further apart? Asking for when I plant. Should I space them out more so I don't have to cut any down?

Instead of thinning, can't I uproot and replant somewhere else?
@RebelJew777
@RebelJew777 6 лет назад
Travynoel, yes but be careful because it would be a shock to the plant. Be sure to dig below the root ball andtThe roots, carefully lift out the plant. Try to keep as much original soil with it as possible, this will help create less of a shock. Be careful not to disturb the other plants. Before you put the plant and its new location, drop a raw egg in the new location, add a banana peel as well. This will create lots of nutrients which the plant will need. Once planted fertilize and cover with topsoil. Add egg shells on top of the soil.

Yes buts its better to move them when the seeds first bust . Make sure you prepare your spot, plenty water drop them down to the neck. They should be alright.

This dude has no idea how to grow pumpkins. If he did, he wouldnt be planting in that soil, over that lawn, or putting them that close together, or using fertilizer. 🤦 Gods help me fertilizer. 🤦🤦 Manure and wood, people! Thars all you need! Gross ass soil and a ton of water!

I have an urgent question. I have a huge pumpkin vine in my yard that was grown on accident. It has about 12 pumpkins on it now, with approximately 8 being the size of a volley ball. Problem is, both vines are from the same one seed that germinated and now that main stem/root has been chewed more than half way thru by some rabbit possibly. If it comes apart then both vines are screwed. What can I do to save my vine?? I buried that section under garden soil to keep it from being exposed. Is that ok?

The whole point of the vine is that it protects itself. If you let it grow along the ground, each vine node will send roots into the ground. This is one of the biggest reasons why trellising pumpkins is difficult..I am working on doing a three level dirtbag trellis this year. It should be interesting. Anyway. Those roots support any fruit growth from that point on. Its almost like a pothos, ut better at its job.
