I was asked to make a video on how to thread the Elna 664 Pro Serger. Here is a quick one take video on how to do it and what problems can occur. I will make a fancy video later when I learn how to use my video editing software
This is the only time i have ever commented on or subscribed to anything on youtube. Your threading 664 video is amazing and so much easier than the manual! I won’t even mention what i said when i got yhat cherry red button to work! Thank you so much kat 🧡🧡
OMG. This was a miserable process....not because of your instruction but bc I have built up such a mental block against this dang thing. I’ve had it for about 7 years and just successfully threaded it. I stuffed it in a closet with a broken needle and a bent needle. I am saving this video FOREVER. Thank you. I’m feeling like this is the greatest accomplishment of my life....
Thank you so much for doing this video. I bought my Elena 664 in January 2018. I have not re-threaded it since then. I totally forgot how to do it. You walked me through the whole entire process and my chains are perfect thank you again I so appreciate it
Thank you. 11 Months ago you helped me thread my serger. I walked away from sewing for 9 months and tonight you helped me again to re-thread my serger.
I am a multilingual and watched many videos from a few countries. But nothing was helpful. This video is simply the best - clear instruction and excellent camera angle and I could make it for the first time. Thanks soooo much!!!
Fantastic video! Thank you! I just bought this machine, manual is not that clear, and actually shows a slightly different machine! Would love to see more instruction on what this machine can do. ❤
Appreciate your demonstration. Now I'm not afraid of threading. Had to rethread cause they snapped and thanks to your video my overlocker is chaining again. I'm so relieved.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Luella, you are awesome. The video was so very well done that for the first time in a long time I was able to use the 664 Pro perfectly.
Thank you so much! As I watched the video, I made notes and took screen shots. This video really simplified threading my serger! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
I thought you did a tremendous job explaining this (even to the fact of thinking of our perspective or view rather than your comfort. I am glad you also posted it as a raw instead of edited video. However, my favorite is the fact that even as good and knowledgeable that you are, there are still struggles on the simplest tasks; thus, making me not so intimidated by my serger. Thank you so much...
Thank you, I have turned my hair grey trying to thread this machine following the instructions. I have taken up a whole day trying, until I am so tired and ratty. Tomorrow I will try again as you have given me confidence again.
Oh my god thank you for showing that trick with the lower looper. I was pulling my hair out yesterday trying to thread it through. You are a life saver!
Thank you so much. I didn’t realize that the green hook had to indicate for two threads or three four. I had it wrongly set on two when I was using three threads. Thanks. Please do more on the Elena Serger!
Thank you so much for this video, I was losing my patience trying to thread my serger . After watching this, things went finally smoothly! I'm particularly glad you showed us the trick on how to align all the green parts, this is such a time/sanity saver! Have a nice day Luella.
OMG!!!!!! Thank you SO much!! I can't even tell you how many HOURS I wasted trying to thread this machine. I'm so grateful for your video :) Thank you again so much. I can do this now :)
I cannot believe all you have to do for the first thread is push a leaver up to get to the green loops, I have spent more time worth mentioning trying to thread the machine it’s almost embarrassing… Thank you so much for posting this information it’s life changing :)
love you! thank you I've been fiddling for 2 hours before I thought to look it up on the web, because of course I lost the manual when moving... ahhhhhhhhhhhh my jerseys will get done!
To add to my comment, I know it’s been a year since you’ve made this video, but maybe you could make a tutorial about tension settings on the machine? Your tutorial was so easy to follow!
I’ve had this machine for years so I’m so thankful you are doing this! Or did this! Thank you! I make cosplay too and want to get back into it so thank you again!!
OMG I've spent the last hour getting frustrated with my lower looper thread snapping (speedy Gonzalez Me). I just couldn't figure it out & how to get that thread through all the guts😑😬😵🥴👉🙄👈. Derrrrrrrrrrrrr, I don't need to. It all clicks out & makes it really easy. Thanks for showing me how. Made a huuuuuuuuuuge difference to my mood😆😁😄😃
This is great, thanks Luella! Especially the 6 min mark where you show how to make threading Green way easier. I wonder why they didn't make that last hook green?! Probably an oversight.
I appreciate your confident tone of voice when teaching, including the comments on errors on the way to learning, I've just bought a used Elna 686 serger and I'm hoping this video of the 664 Pro is similar. Do you know if the number progression is also 'older to newer'? e.g. is the Elna 654 older than the 664, and the 686 older than the 664? I thought my machine was quite a few years old, but haven't been able to get a clear idea on this.
Their numbering system is a bit confusing. It doesn't seem to follow any logical order. The order of those 3 machines from oldest to newest is 686 - 654 - 664. I would say yours is a bit older from the photos of 686s I see on google. But I don't know how old. If you are on facebook there is a great group for Elna users : facebook.com/groups/VintageElna/ They might be able to help you out more. Thank you for the complements of my teaching skill. Through the years I have realized you learn more from mistakes the correct answers so I always try to include 'how not to do this' when I teach. I teach sewing lessons locally.
Thank you so much this video has been incredibly helpful! I am having trouble on the 3rd step, when I press in the red button and pull the metal thing the needles don’t lift as they are to long. These are the needles the Machine came with so I’m a little confused. Was hoping you would be able to help! Thank you
Some times I have found that I need to manually either advance or go in reverse the machine by the knob on the side to raise the needles high enough to use the lift button. For some reason the positions that work best for the internal threading isn't the same for the 2 needles. I hope this is helpful.
I do not have a timing video, yet. I do plan on making one hopefully in the coming year. I just haven't had time. I have set the timing on mine, so I can offer you a link to the service manual. www.manualslib.com/manual/1923692/Janome-634d.html I know it says Janome 634d but it is the same machine. They just have different covers. Janome makes Elna nowadays.
I just looked and you are correct. I missed that hook. I put my thread there when I thread my machine but I missed it in this tutorial. Well, when the planets finally align, I can record more on this machine I will re-do this video and correct that error. Thank you for pointing out that error.
