I have a wheel in my dads basement studio because he is a potter and he literally refuses to teach me how to use it until I’m in high school lmao, I’m it 8th grade btw so thank you
I made this perfect curve yesterday by following your way. Yeah! Would you mind teach us how to make a perfect flat bottom? I want to make a flat bottom coffee cup but it eventually looks like a curve one.
It is a great idea of making a bowl. I always make a cylinder first and tried to reshape it to a bowl. But I always fail as the bottom is already too broad. It will be great if we can also have a side view of you making a bowl.
the way you throw is so clean and precise, and so is your instruction. Thank you, I'll be attempting to re-learn the bowl making using your technique, the one I knew was not working well for me
Yes, I LOVE bats! But for demos and for a studio of 100 potters I teach how to do things without bats. Nails! Ha! I have very thin nails so I get acrylic nails. They do not go past the tip of my finger and they actually make for really great tools :)
Thank you so much for the teaching Dara...you dont know how many fails i had before stop being stubborn and look for a tutorial, and i found the best....❤
Great to know. I think I will practice without a bat. Would this help in centering? Using the lines on the wheels as well as the ‘feel’. BTW. I love your videos, very helpful
Thank you!!! Yes, some of my students prefer to NOT throw with a bat. There is a video on the Cylinders Playlist teaching how to remove a pot from the wheel. Check out that video!
May I ask which brand your pottery wheel is on this video?!😅 Thinking of buying one, Really confused with variety of pottery wheels! Yours one wasn't noisy at all
I love bats but it is important to learn how to remove a pot without a bat. Also, I am a public school teacher with many young potters and unfortunately it is a luxury we don't have for everyone to have a bat :)
