Me and my friend have been watching all theses vids since since the very first one and practice them till we get our throws down, now whenever we play ultimate with our buds we straight dominate aha just thought id let you know that these videos really do help alot! Thank you and keep them coming! :)
@123offensive Forehand over thumber everytime if you can. The thumber is only useful throwing over a zone. Hammer over thumber as well. So the thumber is more of a artistic throw over anything else.
Brodie Smith i throw forehands and backhands with my left but more advanced throws like the thumber and hammer with my left hand.................. is this normal or odd?
Your video's are getting better. The addition of offensive players and a mark is a big deal. Getting into the flight pattern of a throw is important for a hammer/thumber - but keep this up for all your throw videos. Keep up the good work.
brodie can your give me any tips for disc golfing, my main goal is to not loose any more of my disc golfing disc lol. and i would like to be able to throw really far
@TheBigOnesNeedLuvn2 More spin (makes it more stable), more i-o (makes long throws flatter), lower angle of attack (prevents it from stalling as it loses momentum).
I learned this throw, and since i learned it I called it a scoober...and a thumber in my book is almost like a forehand, except you hold your thumb on the inside of the disc and flat, resting on your wrist area, forearm. and then you flick it. I cant really explain it, but I learned this alot differently with different names :P
I have this problem where I throw the thumber, and it starts curving left, but then after a short while turns back to the right. This only happens when I throw it far. Any tips?
Throw it more upright or use a newer disc. At least that's true in disc golf, I imagine that beat up ultimate discs also gets more understable (flippy)
@ameliorate2695 The difference is similar to that of a hammer v OI backhand - the flight path is up and away and will generally float more making it easier to go over the mark, where the flick needs to go around the mark
huh... I've never seen people throw this... What I call a thumber is where its like the same grip almost but the frisbee isn't upside down and the thumb is riding the inside rim while the four other fingers are just slightly resting on the top. The chicken wing is with the thumb sticking towards the middle of the frisbee. I've heard what I'm talking about called a thumber flick. What do you think?
When you're throwing out into space away from the defender, why not just throw a forehand? Wouldn't that be more accurate? I guess if you make a catch where your hand already in the thumber grip you could make a quick throw without having to switch to a forehand grip, but other than that I don't see why this throw really comes into play. At the college/elite club level do you see this throw much?
I'm stupid. Can someone explain the joke for me at the end? Also when his bro said "check this shit out" and threw the frisbee in the goal i just started to laugh randomly for like 10 minutes straight.
@korea92 If thats what you call it, idk, this is what my high school captains and coaches taught me, and those names, never heard of the chickenwing. But where I live, college ultimate goes by what I said too. Wierd.
