You are a superb teacher. I am just an amateur enthusiast, but, even though you are covering just a couple types of pitches, this is the best and clearest explanation I have ever seen on the hand mechanics of pitching in general and what makes fastballs either fly straight or move in different directions. You also have a wonderful genuine and positive demeanor that I'm sure makes people open to listening to you and trusting your advice. No doubt many up and coming baseball players have benefited greatly from your teaching. Thank you for this great video.
I think if RU-vid was around in the 80's and I had videos like this as a development resource, it would have been a difference maker for me personally. Great video and explanation, sir.
i don't play baseball, i rarely watch baseball. generally i find the sport boring. but, i have always been fascinated by pitchers throwing a baseball and all the different things they can make a ball do. also, i hardly ever make comments on youtube. but after coming across this while in a youtube rabbit-hole, i felt compelled to tell you that this is a great video and your information is super informative. it's really interesting stuff. i'll definitely be checking out more.
I'm very thankful for you taking the time to actually give an in depth explanation of the pitch. I will make my personal goal to let everyone I know how great your coaching is.
I too couldn't throw with pointer finger pressure, and then did something along the lines of what you are describing of "staying strong" but to me the feel was of thumb pressure helping my pointer finger "stay strong". And then it occurred to me the thumb was probably creating drag for both a slower pitch with greater spin. So I'm curious if you think your thumb played a similar role when you finally mastered the sinker?
Two seam is different then sinker. Watch Yankees Ace pitcher Masahiro Tanaka or however you spell it, he throws a sinker. Then watch old videos of Tim Hudson or Jair Jurrjens for two seam fastballs. Two seam tails and comes with less speed then 4 seam but faster than sinker. Sinker drops a small amount very tightly and is usually a couple mph slower than 2 seam fastball.
Cursed_Legend early probation is actually healthier for your arm, think about quarterbacks in football the only way to get a good spiral on a football is to pronate your arm early and you never hear about a quarterback getting tommy john
