Hey, is it possible to learn through these videos and study them and do it similar to shadow boxing? I just don't have many dojos around here and it's harder to find good ones to accommodate my disability (autism).
Hey DL, thanks for your comment, and good question. I definitely think you can improve a lot by studying techniques through videos, and practicing on your own. At some point though it will be beneficial for you to get at least one training partner to do some applications - safety first - as well as an expert that can provide feedback on your execution if possible. We are working on ideas to set up virtual private classes via video chat in the future. Also, don't let anyone tell you you can't do anything because of autism; we have had a couple students with this condition in the past, and they have done very well. Hope this helps, and good luck! - Patrick
@@EffectiveMartialArts Thanks, brother. I was just asking because, like I said, there aren't many around here and I didn't do well in one that I tried. But I'll consider everything you said. Thank you.
Hey Warrior A, EMA is an innovative system that blends techniques inspired from Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo and BJJ, with some influence from Kung Fu and Krav Maga. Hope this helps! - Patrick
Reverse elbows are very common. There is always a slight chance of injury depending on what part of your opponent you're connecting with, but I would say it's minor in this case.
@@EffectiveMartialArts I hit heavy bag with wrong bone on back of elbow. Got bruised bone for like 2 month. I can hit hard from front and sides without issues. Maybe my elbow is not build to hit with back, wrong bone is more protruding then the hard pointy one.
Elbows can be very effective in the clinch as well. When in a choke, they can help to loosen the grip, but I would say the priority is to escape the choke with grip fighting and positional adjustments. Hope this helps! - Patrick
Not really... these are mostly Muay Thai and MMA-inspired. To find out what I really think of Kung Fu, check this out: Why I Quit Kung Fu-TMA ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A0fhgtVs0oo.html Enjoy! 🙏 - Patrick
Thanks Lurkyte Spaed, glad you like it! fightTIPS is a great ressource with lots of quality content for boxing and muay thai based striking and self-defense.
+Effective Martial Arts High I`ve been beat up a few times over the years and I would feel safer blocking in some fashion should I ever be attacked again, this is the first martial arts advise I have seen where I can strike while blocking, are there any punches I can also throw while blocking as I think I will panic again and I want to stay in a shell, I`ve seen a channel that says a high guard can ruin your low centre of gravity and as I`ve shadow boxed (in my living room! LOL!) in my room I`ve felt clumsy while punching from a block, do you have any advise on this? Great vid.
Hey Mark Ant, thanks, glad you like it, and thank you for your comment. Indeed it takes practice to seamlessly blend offense and defense, so for that the best thing would be to find someone with more experience who can coach you on your execution. Meantime, check out our punch blocks and counters video for ideas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SaMfj1sJlZ4.html. More good stuff to come! Hope this helps :) - Patrick
A hook will provide good face coverage. Straight punches can also be used to create a long guard which can help but if they are very imposing they can tackle you which is dangerous
Hi, I'd like to start a martial art training (this is the first video I see on the topic)... what should I begin with in your opinion? Boxing, Kung fu, kraft maga?
I would go with Boxing and/or BJJ. Check out this detailed video I made recently on how to evaluate different martial arts: Why I Quit Kung Fu-TMA ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A0fhgtVs0oo.html Enjoy, and please let me know your thoughts! 🙏 - Patrick
@@EffectiveMartialArts elbow strikes are way better take down a attacker than knees because in MMA elbows are legally allowed to be strike but this video is very helpful and i like elbow strikes it doesn't matter what Martial art is being used whoever and great discussion.😎🤠😇
mike hawkins use headphones his voice is perfect for communication in this video have you ever taken a communications class with @ your local community college?
Hey Mike, thank you very much for your interest, and yes, I am working on many more videos with more in-depth explanations to be posted on our channel in the future. We do not have products for sale yet, but we're planning on having an online academy eventually. First things first. Thanks again for watching and commenting! - Patrick
