In karate wee do it the same but wee have the line behind on topp of each other so its a straight line

As a Judoka i tie it the same way i think a straight line also looks cleaner.

Same here, I had been taught the straight and more harmonious „Japanese“ style from the first day I stepped in a Dojo… they just completely despise such lazy serendipity and hive a heightened sense for harmony in everyday tasks.

The crossing at the back looks terrible… there’s a more proper way that is taught in Japan to avoid it, just look it up.
