I think you have defeated the object of the rig with that stupidly long section of tubing on the hook section. The combi rig works by the supplenes of the braid section, and the semi stiffness or stiffness of the fluro section which in turn makes the rig ultra hard for the carp to deal with. The rig you have shown is no different to a stripped back section on a coated hook link. Good Wraysbury vid by the way..

Hi Beefsteak, thanks for the message, I agree looks odd this was born from trying different things from watching carp from up the trees at Linchill and I kept getting done and found this to be the only rig that tripped them up regularly. The long piece of shrink is to reduce the amount of braid to reduce tangles.Good points you raise though fella, tight lines and all the best 🙂👍🏻

Have you tried steaming the shrink into a big letter ‘C’? 👀

It’s all about changing the hook quickly as they are Kamakuras and need changing after every fish and using silicone rather than shrink allows us to do that.Sometimes the sharpened hooks get damaged on the retrieve in weed etc. good shout though 🙂
