This video shows you how I tie my blood loops and twisted boom blood loops. These are very simple knots that I use all the time for making 1 hook/2 hook even 3 hook flapper rigs, my wrecking rigs and my homemade mackerel feathers. Great for scratching rigs and wrasse fishing.

I saw this tie on another video, searched for an hour to find it again, and finally got here. This knot will be most useful for me. It looks like a pain, but after trying other knots, it will be easier. The mouth comes in handy. I appreciate that you took the time to make this video. Thank you.

Thanks for those knots, mate! I found a much easier way to the second part of the twisted loop knot, though...completely by accident. Once the line is twisted, just tie a double overhand knot in the twisted section where it meets the main lines, and pull tight on all three lines. Turns out really strong, as I've tested it and nothing wrong at all....just much easier. Thanks for the information, and keep them vids coming! Respect and cheers.

Hi John , I have to say that I really find your videos on fishing knots very interesting. Many years ago I served as a fireman ( not to be confused with a 'firefighter) we had to be able to tie all kinds of knots, many of which yo u have described in your videos.

I have used these rigs for 40 years .Great for beach casting when whiting are about find this rig very successful tipped with a piece of mackerel. No tangle when casting.

Hi John, I know I keep posting this, but thanks once again for a really good instructional video. I don't know why, but I've been backing off from knots etc but once explained properly they are making rig making so much easier. I will be using this method of making rigs a lot more now, I've just knocked a simple two hook rig using your video. Hope you and the family are well.

Cheers, easy to follow, tried n tested still a bit early on the west coast Scotland but got a bull Huss with the twisted set up, I have tried most of these rigs one up one down etc, you have saved me a fortune on rigs, thanks again, the way you done the one up one down rig is great for shore casting, 0 tangles so far, take care ;)

I'm glad I saw this. I added it to my saved videos. Where I'm from, we use (buy) this type of leader for targeting Pan fish (crappies, blue gills, flat & lightweight fish.) They are called crappie rigs. It bugged me that I didn't know how to tie my own. But your second example, is very much like what we call a crappie rig.

hi John been fishing for freshwater fish for over 60 years and have had a few trips last year tope fishing, one of the best things is all the new skills to master, and the fishlock has supplyed all ive needed so many thanks for that. there was one thing i wanted to know was 0n your quick change hook rig you have your line exit from the back of the eye ,as a match and carp angler i always made sure my line came out the inside of the hook,maybe its differant for seafish. just wondered ,keep up with the work shops.Regard frank

Hi John, I expect you know ,that if you pull the line either side of the twisted loop a few times the twists get even tighter and stiffer ,making a really great stand out snood.

- Yes Allen, the is the point of the twisted boom blood loop I show in the video. Great aren't they. :)
@allenbrown8158
@allenbrown8158 4 года назад
hi John, yes I was taught how to tie them many years ago , the loops get tighter and tighter the more you pull and release the to ends of line, it can be almost as stiff as wire, any way good hunting when this is over I am in south wales, and its going to be a long wait.

Hi there fella, with this knot, is it possible to cut the blood loop near the knot, to end up with a loose end to snell feathers to a hook?

Really helpful video John. Could you make slightly smaller loops and then use them to hang off some snoods? E.g. for a flounder rig?

A healthy,Happy New year to you and your brill family, Love the vids :) P.S. Do you have any tips for actually getting the line to spin,I found I just couldn't spin the line,no friction to grip it it and spin it. Roughen my finger tips with sand paper? lol (serious!) Covid lockdowns have turned my finger tips to baby skin! :(

Sorry to trouble you John , Iv watched tons of your videos as I’m a fishing nut time permitting. I’m considering starting a RU-vid page around what we do which is breeding falcons with maybe the odd day fishing , pointer dog training , grouse hawking etc . Could I ask for a couple pointers , cameras etc . Cheers Jeff Armstrong Border Falcons Ltd

Hi John , hope your well mate ? I'm so use to using single hook set up's as been mainly coarse fishing when I lived in the uk . And that's carried thru into sea fishing here in Oz . I'm thinking about tying some of these rig's but was wondering what length of line you would start with to tie a 2 hook rig ?. Thanxs in advance Andrew
@markfahey3921
@markfahey3921 2 года назад
Hi Andrew mate, Sorry I'm not john, but like you I was thinking the same question. What I myself did was take a longer piece of line or leader than I thought I would, make the rig and then you can always trip it down at the ends.

at 6.11 you say, you take this piece,, but you have more than one piece in your right hand, so confusing here as I cannot see if you are using the loop of a strand..

As much as I like your videos you really do need to learn to keep your hands in shot when tying knots. Us beginners can't keep up.

IDK if you're calling them what you want (many of the twats here in the US are) but here they're called Dropper Loop and Twisted Dropper Loop. Also when adding the hook that's called a cow hitch knot.
