Of all the tutorials I've watched on RU-vid...and I've watched more than I can count. Yours my friend are the best by far. Not just for information on a basic AND advanced level due to your vast experience but also for their incomparable entertainment value...you are a welcome addiction. Thank you!!!
I have to say, having tried 'Mr Albright' knots from other channels, yours was by far best 10lb mono to 9lb j braid (practice only) yours was easiest and unlike others didn't slip!!! Thanks 😊 once again Bruce. Jonathan
Thank you. My dad started me on fresh water as a kid. Then sea fishing as an adult. I was always handed a rod set up. I watched ,listened and learned .only I was never introduced to the world of what line, where or why or how to tie line and rigs. My partner of 20 years decided to leave me ,thinking I would give him back his fishing gear. Foolish man, as if! Your tutorials and humour are terrific ,and hopefully will leader,(boom, boom,) to me sending a picture to my ex partner of me and a monster fish. I thank you sir and for not forgetting us ladies as male inches seem to differ from female inches
This is TRULY a huge help and very informational. I was having the slipping problem you displayed with using the first knot. I had much better luck with the 2nd knot, but all the others are great also, so I will be using them more often. Thanks!
Watched your video did the double knot for the hooks. Went fishing this past weekend and caught a 40" 25lb striped bass and knots withstands all that tension thanks a lot for the video keep posting.
In all the years I have been fishing, I’ve learnt more from you graham, watching your videos. They are fantastic, a pleasure to watch and keep up the good work!
I used to use the uni and double uni for pretty much all my applications, however I now use a simple triple surgeons knot for pretty much everything, it's a really simple yet really strong knot that has not let me down to-date
For connecting two lines, could you use two Tuck Blood knots, so loop the tag end of the main line and tie the (leader) in and onto the looped mainline, using the standard Tuck Blood, then do the very same to the mainline, you would be left with a Tuck Blood on each line joining the two. Would you think such could work?
iv been fishing now for a few months now, my friend got me into it, all of your videos are so so helpful for beginners!!! I really can't thank you and your son enough!
This is truly fantastic.. getting your head around all these nuts can be head spin(pardon the pun) but seeing it as you're doing this the close-up and personal touch helps a lots.. I'm not a master of and what you used in the military is different to what you would use in the fishing world but similar if not the same in some cases.. to be honest when I used to fish 20 years ago it would just be an ordinary knot 🪢 but how different things are these days.. I know some of these nuts are older than yourself and me together . I'm fascinated by the knots you would use for spinner fishing as this is what I'm looking to do more often than float fishing up at the lake District..
Cheers glad I learnt that Aldbrite Special Knot today, was beach fishing and the bail arm broke off on one of my cheap lineaeffe fixed spool reels. Cut the line and tied it on to my spare multiplier and used it to get the rig back in weed and all. Tied an Aldbrite Special in anger on the beach with people watching ;). Keep up the good work your videos have got me into beach fishing :)
Needed this. I'm away out tomorrow morning to try mackerel fishing for the first time. I have tried trout fishing at a fishery 3 times a few years ago with a friend and only caught 1 brown lol but I'm going to try get myself in to all types of fishing starting tomorrow morning. This video has helped me big time. The channel is one of the best out there.
Hey that 3rd knot you tied, if you dont do the 4 twists after but have the same finish is called a end of the line bowline. Leanred it in the service to tie down stuff and to use as a hitch or anchor point. Never thought to use it for fishing though. It's def a great knot to know, ive never had it slip whent ever i used it.
For some reason my blood knots kept slipping but I've just tried a double blood knot and it seemed to do the trick. Thanks for some great advice love the channel
Tell me, why can't all the other tutorials be as effective as this. Absolutely brilliant! One major criticism though: why wasn't this posted on RU-vid forty years ago!
I love your channel. Please keep up the content, I’ve fished sporadically for a few years and love brushing up with your quirky and clear explanations!
What an absolutely amazing video especially for beginners someone like myself rising no idea what they are doing this video is amazing thank you very much for your time
I am new to fishing and man did this video helped me a lot !!! Thank u so much for making and posting this, it really taught me how to tie and set up my own fishing rigs !!! Cheers from Singapore !!!
Generally the offshore trolling knot attaches to the swivel and comes at the end of a Bimini twist knot for making a double line. I don't know a surgeon offshore knot. I know the Surgeon's loop, which is fine for Springs, and I know the Offshore Trolling knot, but both are different. I rarely use braid as I don't like it, and the Palomar is also usable. Most of the well known knots should be reliable, but only if tied properly.
Nice selection of books on the wall, I have the exact same collection on my shelves, is it not about time you did a few more? Really appreciate all that you do.
watching Greame Pullen videos bring smile.to.my face its very interesting and very amusing. I want Gream Pullen to tell me where I can buy fishing equipments here in the phil.
I use it with the braid I use,but I'm not a lover of the spidery thin braids.Mine is thick,so although a fiddle pulling it down,I do use it. Haven't had it pull loose yet.But there may be better knots for Braid/mono links.
The albright knot is notorious for coming loose , a double butted union knot(or a swivel) is never going to come loose ! And yes I am binge watching all the older videos 😂😂
Brilliant video, thanks! I lost a couple of fish on my last trip- my fault, I tied the knots, so this is a back to basics, re-learning for me. Hopefully no more lost fish!!!
at here, Indonesia.. we usually use blood knot loop version for swivel and snell for main hook. for fresh water fishing. nice video.. perhaps more nice if put explaination text at video, (for name, specification, etc). because sometime i need repeat video to hear clearly, specially for non english person like me. anyway great job...
Graham, Mike I love the show and really enjoy watching your vids. They're very informative and fun too! However I was hoping to convince you guys to produce a vid demonstrating which conditions, i.e. tidal, wind, lunar and temp are best for beach fishing. Looking forward to the next instalment, thanks!
thanks you always help me if its knots an only sometime last week or so i saw your video how to rig a marlin lure that really helped me in my marlin fishing
Very helpful info! I'm going to make my friends watch this video before taking them out to fish. It should give me more fishing time and less tying time. Thank You-Sir!
Hi, I have just very recently taken up beach fishing, in fact I've never fished before so that will give you a good indication of my skill\ experience level. I'm after some advice... I'm using the Albright knot to attach my main line to my leader (F1 black 20lb- Amnesia Clear 50lb) and on several occasions its let me down. I've lost a rig into the sea after a cast and on the second occasion noticed that the knot was starting to unravel itself. I'm wondering if there is an alternative or more idiot proof knot that is bombproof? Keep the videos coming, I have learnt alot from watching your uploads many thanks. atb Si
+Ascent 41 I've never had a problem with the Albright which is one of the most famous knots in the world for joining lines of different diameter.I think it must be how you tighten the coils down, which need to be touching, not overlapping so it looks like a small cylinder when tied. There are other knots for leaders, check online, see if any new ones are up there,it might help you out.
Great video. I am 40 years old and just now taking up fishing. Still trying to learn all I can and your video was a great help. I felt like I was listening to my dad and grandfather teach me how to tie the knots.
Is the surgeon offshore trolling knot good for large pacific spring (king, tyee) salmon? And does it still work well on braided? Also, what do you think of the palomar knot? Thanks for the video
And we are eight years older but your excellent toutorial endures Graeme. Thank you Mate(x Navy).. My question is ...your Albright knot is excellent...Fast forward to 2020. How would you compare the Albright Knot to the F G Knot ..??Thank you !!
I think that 5 turns around 70Ib mono is too many Graeme. I usually do about 4. For the blood knot and tucked blood loop that is, and I usually go 3 for the Uni knot which I rarely use.
Good vid Graeme, could you use a palomar knot on the double line rig instead of offshore trolling knot? Also any chance of a vid on rigging large dead/live baits for pelagic fish. Keep on putting the old vintage big game fishing vids on there great, anything on wahoo ??
