Little further tip, after u have the knot firmly seated, it's very helpful to hold the knot with one hand and pull each strand separately. This helps to "permanently" firm up and lock the knot/strands in place.
I thought I had this nailed down but after a few months of doing the knot on lanyards and zipper pulls, I realize that at the beginning, when both strands are side by side and you make your first loop, I bring the strand OVER rather then BEHIND... I guess the end result is the same, as long as the left one goes behind and the right one goes in front, or vice versa... right?
I bet that you don't know that if you made a single Matt walker in one cord then pull the loop out of the knot you end up with a figure of 8 knot in pretzel form
