I've got nothing but praise for your tutorials also the dubbing is great my daughter got me a load of it for my birthday so guess what's on the menu this week.
Yeah I don't get people who get upset about those who tie differently, each to their own. I like patterns like this, always prove to be effective for me, so thank you for tying the pattern here. That dubbing colour is brilliant, I have a similar blend from somewhere. I really like spiky dubbing but it seems to be harder and harder to find. So much synthetic stuff out there that has no spiky guard hair, but I persist. You do a fine job of presentation and please keep tying the way you want to. Cheers!
Hi Lindsay your Rutland wetfly did the business on the loch yesterday. 6 Rainbow for 26lb in 4 hours. All released. Arm got tired so home early. Thanks again. Big Davie.
I tied a few before going to Draycote yesterday. Put a bit of floatant on it to keep it high in the water. It was the trouts fly of choice catching 5 from the wind lanes
Thanks for this video, Lindsay. Will tie some of these for the lakes I'll be fishing in Quebec! Brookies and Rainbows! I agree with you about that GSP thread, it is slippery as all hell! :-) Which brand of UV torch is that!
An excellent demonstration of a good pattern.Where or who is the outlet for the Troutstalkers dubbing and it looks like its a burnt colour so what other dubbing would you use if I cannot get a hold of any troutstalkers or can you supply the same colour and style
Hi Stuart, many thanks. The Troutstalkers dubbing can be purchased from Andrew Ellis and you will be able to find him on Facebook. I believe that a website is in development but not yet ready to go. I would not get to caught up with the colour any sort of squirrel dub will give you a very similar effect. I think the size and proportion is more important than the colour.
Lindsay Simpson thanks Lindsay , I subscribe to watch various tyers on utube , the usual Dave Mcphail , B Ord Clark,Mak etc etc and now your creations and methods are in that list
Is the partridge you are using a red grouse, (ptarmigan), summer plumage? We all have our own methods when tying and if it works for you, then use it! I am self taught and am certainly don’t use all the “approved” steps! My flys work and have caught many thousands of trout over my 50+ years at the vice! The trout, in the end, are the final judge! Ty to please yourself and ignore the critics!
