How to Tie the Sack Lift Knot - Simple Knot to Lift Sacks
There may be times when you want to tie a simple knot around the throat of a sack, in order to lift it or hang it out of the way.
@Timothy Smallwood Suggested: "Not having a sack I tried this successfully on a tea towel! I reckon it would also be useful for grabbing the corner of a tarpaulin when making a shelter."
The Sack Lift Knot is so quick and easy to tie. Also by using the this sack lift knot, the throat of the sack is folded, thereby sealing the sack better.

Thank you for sharing, and reminding me of this knot. I haven't seen a burlap bag in the wild in 50 years tho. Seems a shame. They were so useful to snipe hunters. Wish you well.

@JohnnyDebt A snipe is an extinct bird, where the term "sniper" came from. But a "snipe hunt" is a term similar to "wild goose chase" but with a more mischievous bent. People used to send kids, or naive young adults, out with a bag to catch snipe. They were a small flighty bird that lived near the beach but even after they were all gone people would still send them out looking for them. It's an American thing, primarily East Coast but I've heard people refer to it all the way through Kentucky, Tennessee and into Texas. Hope that helps. Love your work! Cheers!

I'd remembered seeing this in a recommended video. I'm just starting my beer brewing journey and I'm going to use the BIAB (brew in a bag) method. This will be PERFECT for using a pulley to lift that heavy sack full of wort up out of my brew kettle!

there are MUCH easier ways to tie that its a paperclip knot but as long as the knowledge is transmitted i suppose it doesn't really matter kudos on the video, very cozy

@@KnottingKnots Somehow, I don't see this knot being used to hold the corners of a Tarp, I wouldn't be folding mine over unless in an emergency - what I need is a KNOT that will hold a Pebble pushed into a Tarp from the inside, like a Hangman's noose type of thing. However, I', wondering if this Knot of yours is strong enough to hold the ends of a blanket for Hammock as the usual Knot used is similar, but with at least 5 frapping wraps in it, I guess to stop the material slipping through the rope/cord.

An easy way to remember this, it is a Marlin Spike Hitch with the sack woven through it instead of a marlin spike. There are some important details. The hitch would be "face down" and you want to weave the sack through the lifting side of the line first.
