I've had my locks for 7 years now and in the beginning, for about 4 years, I kept up with hook maintenance and besides palm rolling, I haven't done a thing to them in the last 3 years! Aaaand now I really really need some maintenance! Sooo since you're so amazing at your own hook maintenance my question is, is it better to wash before or after hook maintenance? Tia, 😊

Hey wow just found out how to leave a comment from phone lol oook. Anyway thank u for this vid. I do crochet method too and can NOT find one person who knows or wants to crochet Maintanience my locks. Everyone does interlocking and palm rolling. I’m going tomorrow to teach a woman how to do it on me. I can maintenance the dreads myself at this point but not the roots. I can’t see the back or the root well enough to decide which dread it goes in etc. so expensive so I’d like to know how to do my own roots. This is first vid I have EVER been able to finds this info . So THANK YOU. Ps. I’ve gone two times to Black Salons and they promise they can do crochet method and at end they did interlocking!!!! So my dreads are like 2 diff textures. It’s hella mess now. Do u have any tips on how to fix those interlocked (looped hair now bumpy ugly) sections?

What size hook are you using? I used a micro latch hook for my friends hair and her roots are super fuzzy. I wasn’t able to get her roots very effectively with the latch hook

I'm caucasian and have had dreads for a year now... ive had crocheting done a few times and it looks great but id really rather not do it forever... it's been about 3 months since last time i had it crocheted and there are tons of loose hairs... from your experience, will they lock up? I have pretty fine hair kinda like yours... also, i have tons of white "dandruff..?" flakes that come out when i shake my hair... any tips would be great. thanks!!

We do not call them dreads, they are just locks.

It's interesting to hear someone call dreadlocks neat..

If my dreads had that much gunk in them- I'd actually consider lopping them off. But yours are not dreads I gather- they're just stick ons so maybe it's just the glue. Smug smug mine are all my own work from scratch. I can sit on them. I don't hook them- they do their own thing and they're ******* excellent. ☮️

The correct term is locs dread means dreadful when Europeans used to see our ancestors where locs they will say they’re dreadful looking so please change

The word Dread comes from the word dreadful which means causing or involving great suffering, fear, or unhappiness; extremely bad or serious. It comes from the English White people that called Black people's hair dreadful when they came off of the slave ships and their hair was matted down and clumped up from being on the ship for so long with out adequate showering and malnourishment. When you call them dreads it is a reminder of that terrible time period. If you are gonna give tutorials and wear the hairstyle, please respectfully call them LOX or LOCKS. Leave the word "Dread"out of it, unless you feel that way about your own hair. Thank you!
