Hi guys--I’m really missing your “SIt and Knit for a bit”. I’m experiencing a real craving for more of Arne and Carlos. Just the 10 minutes or so on Sunday leave me wanting more, and more. Will you be doing more in the future? I sure hope so. Thanks for all you share.
Thank you for sharing great techniques to help me be a better knitter. Love your sweaters and the videos of your trip last year showing how they are made!
I agree with Steffanie!!!! It is so wonderful to sit. and do my knitting at the end of my work day and listen to you guys. Thanks for your you tube presence!!!!!!!
Thank you for this explanation, I just finished a hat and cowl that I got from your website and I had this problem. Despite my many mistakes, I finished the project and I am delighted with the result. Also, thank you for being so gracious, funny and corteous, this world needs more people like you. I have subscribed, signed for newsletter and I am following you on social media. I am here to stay. 😊
You both look fabulous in the sweaters with the buttons and sliver clasps. Great tutorial and very relevant to me as I just cast on a colorwork yoke sweater. I will practice the pick and throw technique with two colors. I too am missing your sit and knit podcast. Its always nice to hear about what you have been up to and the funny shenanigans you seem to have. Take care until next time!
When I first started with colorwork, everyone kept saying "Keep your floats loose!" so I overcompensated and it always looked sloppy. Eventually, I started to tighten up my tension and just try to make the stitches even, and I've improved a lot. Never as good as Arne, but I have ambitions! 😄
I love seeing you guys 'all dressed up' in your beautiful Setesdal sweaters. They are so intriguing with the embroidered trim. It's amazing to see such quality work being done by hand these days. Because of all your tutorials, I too knit with 2 colors the way you both do. None of my friends or family knit, so you are the only people I've ever learned techniques from, especially with stranded color work. Thank you!
Those beautiful Setesdal sweaters. One of my earliest pleasures was colorwork. I’ve always made up my own patterns; have lately been surprised at how much people look for proper, published patterns. I never thought it was that difficult.
Thank you, it is easier to see how than when Annemor showed it. I do hope she visits you again, that series was so interesting, have a lovely week, see you next Sunday
I so miss you guys, but I love I can listen to your previous shows. You two always make me smile. My favorite show to rewatch is December 23rd about your bug. I had one exactly like yours. I don't knit. I am tempted to learn. Thank you for all the joy you bring into my life.
Once again learned an easier way. I am going to practice this way of knitting on a dish cloth in cotton yarn. Lovely to see you both as usual. You both look very handsome in you sweaters.
I'm always so happy when you demonstrate a technique and I think"oh I do it that way too" 😊 I've usually thought of dominate color as the one that appears the most in the row.
Thank you for the very clear tutorial! I enjoyed it very much with my Monday morning coffee. ☕️ And kudos for your selection of music at the beginning and end of videos, very enjoyable! ❤️
When I discovered the "Norwegian way" to knit colorwork, it totally changed my life! I'm a "thrower" and so when I had to do two colors I always held my left finger up in the air. But once you guys taught me to hold it down, things got so much easier! It inspired me to knit a colorwork vest kit that I'd been saving for years. My stitches were so much more even and balanced between the two colors. And no finger pain from waving that finger in the air! Thanks for sharing these tips -- they may seem small but can make such a difference.
I think color work is now possible!! Goal :start colorwork pattern2022 ! you are so wonderful to share so much with us , and guide and teach us! Thank you for adding light and hope for the new year! Knitting cruise someday please!!!!!
I started doing color work by watching Arne’s video on how to make a hat. It’s now one of my favorite things to do. Thank you for always being so encouraging.❤️
Hi! Thanks so much for showing us this technique! It’s very nifty if you have a very loose float! Although mine tend to be too tight in general…but still, good to have this in your back pocket!
hi guys good to see you i knit the same way arne does i find it good to do the first way he showed any way thanks it was good to see it done i will catch you next time happy wintering to you and the doggies
After listening to your conversations about consistent tension, I've found that keeping the lighter color to the right, regardless of which hand(s) are involved, really helps. Lice present an added challenge though, so I look forward to trying this out!
Thats an interesting way to tighten up your stiches, I am knitting yrigger mits with two colours, so I may have to keep that idea in mind. Thanks again guys!
You’re teasing us with your ‘plans’. I will be here, waiting for you. My first color work was your Reine hat. It turned out ok. Then, my second color work was a 2021 Christmas Ball. It turned out ok. I want to knit more balls and get better with DPN’s. Thanks for everything.
Tusen takk ! I´ve been knitting colourwork for nearly 48 years now, and it is still great to learn something new. There are only few people in Austria who know how to knit a "lusekofte", so your videos are a huge enrichment to my knitting !
I have never knitted with more than one color. Thank you for the clear and encouraging lesson. I also really enjoy the history lessons. Your sweaters are very handsome!
Very pleasant episode as usual, I'm a thrower in knitting but in colour work I throw the main colour and pick the other colours from the finger! Essentially the same but the other way round! Take care both of you.
Hey guys...still on the mend...these viruses are really awful..i miss watching you two so much its just so great feeling better with you again thank you for a great video
Super interesting and different than we have been told, that the cc color should be on the left hand and the background on the right. I like your idea much better! Thanks guys!
Thank you so much for this. I knit colour work in the same way your do, but sometimes get larger stitches and now I know how to put it right. Very many thanks.
Your mini Nordic sweaters were a great opportunity for me to practice colour work. It is interesting to see the back of the knitting because I twist my strands together as I knit like with intarsia. When I first did colour work, the instructions said that a maximum of 5 stitches could be knit between colour changes and the back looked like your knitting. I need to change my colour work technique. Thank you for a great tutorial.
Try as I might, I couldn't adapt to the continental style of knitting of holding up the yarn by the left index finger. Until I saw Arne picking the yarn on another video. I tried it and now my knitting is flying along. Many thanks for the demo.
This is how I discovered the world of A&C, searching online for help w/ tension in my colorwork! I have learned the method you use, and overall what I have learned is--Do Not Be In A Hurry! I move slowly in colorwork, it's a kind of Zen!, and my colorwork results are much better.
