This tip is pure gold! I´ve always tried to fix distracting bokeh with either tone curves or Dodge/Burn but this method is far more easy and fast! Works also well with setting the blend mode to Multiply, depending on the picture...
My process is somewhat similar. What I like to do is change the blend mode to darken in the brush tool and bring down the flow to around 30%. This way it's possible to build up the various lighter areas independently of each other. I also continually sample the colours adjacent to the areas I'm painting.
Oh, it's amazing how just taking the edge off that brightness softened those spots and resolved the issue. When I started the video, I figured you were going to show us how you cloned them out, but I love where you went here. Thanks, Jess!
this is brilliant!! i am heading out today to take some log photos... wish me luck! i have a crazy spaniel who finds it impossible to have a tongue NOT hanging out, but well see how it goes!
Thank you so much for producing this incredible channel, it's unusual for a photographer of your caliber to hand over so much information. I have an idea for an upcoming tutorial but I admit that I haven't watched every one of your videos (yet) so if this has already been covered, please feel free to ignore me. If possible, could you cover everything that goes into outdoor background selection as I'm finding this to have a massive impact on my photography (good and bad). I would love to know if you have a mental list of background requirements to meet before you even touch the camera. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge, it is very much appreciated.
