Super helpful!! We just rescued a pittie and he is so well behaved, but gets distracted by dogs very easily. We worked with him today at a race with over 400 people and he listened well and followed cues from us, but there were no other dogs there. Our problem is when other dogs are involved, getting him to listen to us while walking or in the vet hospital is difficult and near impossible because he loves other dogs. Today I removed him from the situation at the vet hospital lobby and calmed him down, only re-entering when he was relaxed. Then we did “leave it” and “look at me” from the get go. He did much better the second try, but I think I’m going to have to bring a squeaky toy with me on walks because he’s motivated by those as much as treats! Loving your videos. They’ve been so helpful on our training journey (a short four days, but still lol)!

Something this guy was struggeling with, which I noticed many people do. Is the timing when to award. Timing, and knowing what behaviour to award / correct. And not waiting for the absolute perfect time, you want your dog to stay, immidietaly when the dog ignored the distraction BAM award. This is why dog training can be quiet tricky if not very experienced. But you know, practise make it perfect. Superb video and a great way of teaching others. I would however use a correction little bit more, maybe 2 or 3 times on this video, then award. But we all have our methods!: )

My 11 month old puppy has recently discovered squirrels and whenever she sees one now it’s such a struggle getting her to calm down and she won’t listen AT ALL. Mr George, your videos are the cornerstone for starting our journey with our little yorkie poo. I honestly was concerned about taking her on because so many people classically condition their pets. The way YOU handle dogs is how I’ve worked on handling humans for years and it’s now easier to bridge the two! What’s more amazing? I have a family of four and we are all watching your videos! My fiancé is sharing them to people complaining to him about their dogs too! In a week our little one is already practicing so many of what you suggest and she responds beautifully and clearly. Thank you!! My dog is so amazing on the trail by my house and indoors but in the park that my back gate opens up to; she's a menace. In fact, today she ran into the street. She runs away from me, I tell her to 'come' and say 'no' but she runs further and further. It's getting extremely frustrating. I punished her and had her lay in her bed. While she was in her bed, I watched 2 of your videos and felt much more inspired to be a better trainer. So I got a bunch of treats and worked with her outside and she did so much better. Instead of punishing her when she ran further than the limits that I set up for her, i just leashed her and walked her back to our area, and started training her again. She was coming to me, sitting, and staying, it was such a miracle. You've taught me to be a lot more forgiving and understanding, rather than go straight to punishment. Thank you!!!

Zak I love you man my puppy is only 11 weeks old and he knows sit, stay, come here, and also his name but he’s very stubborn lol and only listens when he wants to sometimes. He’s not very responsive sometimes but he does listen to the commands but he breaks very easy

Great video! I would love to see a beagle in one of your videos since there extremley distracted by all the smells because there scent hounds. I have a beagle and its quite hard to train him sometimes, outside even for a treat the smell of the floor grass etc is more important. Btw I love your whole attatudie about using praise and rewards instead of pain methods, you have helped me train my dog for somethings, thanks for that.

Hi Zak, i just want to say I love your videos and you really helped me with my dog. She’s a Labrador and she’s 16 months old, but lately I’ve been having some problems. My neighbour has a Staffordshire who is around the same age and they really love playing together, however as soon as another dog comes she starts biting my neighbours dogs ears and my neighbours dog starts whining, I have to separate them but my dog gets really jealous whenever my neighbours dog is with another dog or even a human. What do I do???

Zak I would love to see more videos on fear reactive dogs. Your videos are great, but mostly towards dogs obedience and tricks. I am desperate for behavior modification videos. I have a extreme fear reactive dog, I cannot change his collar, sometimes cannot clip the leash on his collar, I cannot cut nails, give bath, brush, clean the ears. Sedated grooming and vet visits are very difficult. The unexpected behavior is getting scary. I love him so much, and have only used positive reinforcement. But I am starting a discussion with the vet about putting him down, and breaks my heart. I would love to know if there a chance a dog like this can change. He is a border collie, who needs to play. But stays inside most day because it is extremely difficult to take him out. Behavior modification videos, with dogs like him would be amazing to see.
