I really appreciate that they chose not to give Stoick any cheesy last breathless lines. It was far more impactful for him to just suddenly be gone. Even though I was gutted he died 😢

Eret being voiced by Kit Harington (Jon Snow) is awesome

I love the reality of some of the things they do in these films. There was no last breath death bed speech. Just instant death. Life just ends sometimes and it hurts. He didn't give it a second thought to save his son

About the dad we see a whole different side to him especially from his mom saying that when he was born and very weak it's the dad that had faith in him. The thing is they have to remove the dad from the series if hiccup is to grow. For his whole life the dad was like a safety net.

I kind of think that Astrid (or rather, Stormfly, her dragon) finds Hiccup just like Stoic's does, by smell. ☺

These movies have a lot of heart, that’s probably why they are so loved. Stoick’s death makes me cry every single time, when he says “you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you” does too.

There are several series. To put it simply it fills in the time and events between the movies.

Skullcrusher is a tracking dragon (something from the series)

Hiccups map and sword/gadgets are explored more in the series

Dreamworks does animated series for a lot of their films, multiple series for some -- Kung Fu Panda, Boss Baby, Puss in Boots, Madagascar (Penguins, King Julian, etc), HTTYD, etc. The animation is not as detailed; you won't see individual hairs, etc. and some of the shows are aimed at younger viewers. But the animation is still enjoyable to look at, the writing is good, there's good voice actors and the TV shows are able to feature some of the minor characters and give them background. Not necessarily canon, but I really enjoyed the ones I watched.

The 2 series take place in between the movies, Dragons: Riders of Burk takes place between the first movie and the second and Dragons: Race to the Edge takes place between the second movie and the third

You should look up the behind the scenes interview skit with kit and toothless, it's hilarious 😂 every step on hiccup and toothless' journeys are parallels. When the chief and alpha both die, and the two of them having to step up 😢...in the third film too their arcs match well.

Please watch tv series about dragons: "Dragons, Riders of Berk" and "Race to the Edge". It's great shows, whitch explain some things from second film. This shows unfortunately, doesn't get attention they deserved( it's literally only one channel on RU-vid who filmed reactions on this and this is breaking my heart :(
