<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="714">11:54</a> actually Stoick found Hiccups helmet and let skullcrusher, his track dragon follow his scent so he knew where to go
Nah the issue is that's actually a plot hole, the helmet was in ice cold salt water for hours, if it's metal or wood the only thing it would smell like is salt...
@@elywahl9520it’s not a plot hole actually we don’t know how strong a dragons sense of smell is and if you watch any like cop shows and stuff they use dogs to follow really old smells
@@elywahl9520 and what dragon have you personally tested to see if there smelling capabilities couldnt be far superior than most things to the point that it could still follow a person after that. Also lets not forget hiccups a viking hell smelt like shit and it will be potent and he wears that helmet all the damn time. And skullcrusher has been around hiccup or things that are hiccup for ages. And if you watch Race to the Edge you can see just how good ofsmelling capabilities he has. So politely stfu and do more research
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="719">11:59</a> Stoics dragon was able to smell hiccup on the helmet he dropped, that’s how he found out where they were
@FluffytheFloof yeah again... the molecules that creat scent would have been washed off a degraded because of sea water, the salt is important, it doesn't matter if that shit can smell colors, it's not picking up any scents on the helmet besides salt because that's the only scent that would still be on it after hours of tumbling in the ocean, not to mention it shouldn't float it should have sank lol
@@elywahl9520 Dude this is a world with fire breathing lizards that act like cats, the movie address the issue so is not a plot hole, if you want to be nitpicky is your problem, but i feel sad for how difficult most be for you to watch a fantasy movie without ruin it
httyd did a good job at showing that you can always start with a peaceful friendly solution and try super hard, but that if others aren't gonna change their minds, it's ok to use force because they can't be redeemed
agreed! I so love those movies and how the characters actually grew up and matured through the series. it also knows that children aren't stupid and doesn't dumb down the plot. man, I really need to re-watch them again.
Gotta love how Stoic never thinks to tell hiccup or anyone for that matter about the psycho killer with deadly dragons that wants to take over the world until this film
Nah... you dont tell your kids about everyone of your faults and bad things that happened in your life.. especially if A. It's the thing that took his wife why would he wanna talk about it with anyone and B. I doubt he thought it would ever come back again, how old is hiccup and the dude hadn't even been heard of till then
Hiccup is like what 16-17 in this movie and drago hasn’t shown since hiccup was a baby. You’d assume he’s dead or not coming back at the least the man literally walked through flames
This movie literally had so many plot twists from their insane glow ups to literally finding and losing a parent all in the span of like, an hour and a half. Rocked me to the core when I first watched it, still one of my most favorite movies.
Alex got a little confused on why hiccups Mom was gone, the dragons kind of kidnapped her and stoic thought she was dead. So yeah she didn't run away to be with the dragons, more she was taken by them and learned to live amongst them and has been helping to keep them safe
Good to see Alex blatantly ignoring details of the movie, such as Stoick using Hiccup's lost helmet as a scent marker for his bloodhound of a dragon to track Hiccup down.
Yeah, I've noticed he's getting a bit CinemaSins-esq with leaving out plot stuff for the sale of a quick joke/running bit. I'm hoping maybe it's just him not being able to remember every single detail or just plain brain farted during script writing
I loved the abrupt cuts between “Yeah and then like Stoic dies” *cuts to the most depressing visuals, eulogy, and music* “And now Berk is in danger caus he’s just like the king of all dragons now”
I've always liked how they actually aged the characters in these movies instead of just keeping them as kids. You really see their growth and development as they mature
For anyone who grew up with HTTYD, I’d look into the books for the series! It has a lot more violent and darker moments meant for older audiences that they took out to make the film more friendly to kids, but it definitely is worth it to those who still love the series after so many years! :)
There's a scene before secret nest that shows dad using his dragon to track hiccup. To be fair, you'd only know it's an efficient tracker class dragon if you're a grade A nerd and watched the shows. At least they never make finding a person a plot point in anything going forward.... Right?? 😢
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="192">3:12</a>, toothless was actually modelled after the animators cat (or they used cats as an inspiration, i'm not really sure). The similarities continue with toothless liking fish etc...
Before you do the 3rd Movie, you should know! There's an 8 Season TV Show that (timeline wise) took place between the 1st & 2nd Movies! Season 1: "Riders Of Berk" (20 Episodes Long) Season 2: "Defenders Of Berk" (20 Episodes Long) And Seasons 3 - 8: "Race To The Edge" (13 Episodes Each)
Yes, I know I mentioned underrated dragon designs under the previous video... but kinda feel like 2 took it a step further and made it even better. It's still not talked about enough how creative Dreamworks got when making the dragons, not only basing them off the original book descriprions, but also visibly taking adaptations real animals did in similar settings. For examples: Whispering Deaths live underground and hunt in the dark, so they're technically blind, and have features of worms, snakes and even deep-sea animals like anglerfish. Timberjacks spend most (if not all) their lives flying and traveling great distances, so they lost their legs and have an impressive wing-to-body ratio, similar to bird species like albatross. In short, HTTYD is technically "dragon speculative evolution", which is cool in itself as an idea.
I can identify with Valka. You start collecting one or two dragons, fast forward a couple decades and you can't even get into your closet because there are so many. What I remember of 2 is that like Shrek, whatever was a challenge in the first movie, they WAY overcompensate for in the second. In Shrek, animating hair was a chore so only Donkey and Fiona got hair. In the second movie, with a bigger budget, lets have hair everywhere. In the first movie, animating the dragons seemed the challenge. Often you got one at a time, like Toothless, but in the second movie flocks of dragons... fill the sky with dragons. Really overcompensating.
“By the power of happenstance, baby dragons don’t listen to the alpha.” Obviously, Alex has never been around babies before as this is the most accurate a movie has ever been.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="200">3:20</a> I now really want to make fanart of bob the cat lmao ✨Just Bob and his two and a half brain cells~✨
In defense of the video, tracker dragons isn’t very clearly explained in the film and I can understand overlooking that detail when watching the movie for the first time. Stoick’s dragon was never mentioned to be a tracker dragon in the movie itself, even if there’s enough clues in the movies to infer it. It was explicit only in outside materials. If we’re gonna be pedantic, Astrid’s dragon is also a tracker dragon which was used to explain how she found Hiccup in the beginning of the movie, but the ability wasn’t used by her to find Hiccup in the middle of the film; they just went to kidnap Eret instead. So there’s that too.
I am a grown person, and this is still and will always be the only film series that can make me cry and smile more than any other. It is my favourite and they are the absolute best.
Stoic used his Dragon as a Tracker, he made it smell the Helmet when he found it, that's how he got there. Also, Draco being somewhat "One dimensional" is Intentionall, after the first movie and the Show Hiccup got away with the Talking No Jutsu a lot, so here he had to face someone who doesn't want to listen and wants comflict because not everyone is redeemable. Then, third movie... Eh... I understand what they wanted to de with Grimmel, but Vigo was better and first ;)
see, i was never that into these films, i havent even seen the 3rd one, but the SOUNDTRACK man. it makes me cry every time even if i dont even remember the film it played in
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="710">11:50</a> actually we do know how Stoick got there he found Hiccups helmet in the ocean and his dragon (Skullcrusher), was able to follow Hiccups scent
As a UK resident who's never had Taco Bell..... Why do I see a lot of people say how terrible it is on the digestive system but STILL GO BACK for more?!
I'm 10 years older than when this movie came out, I can handle this like a man. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="756">12:36</a> No I can't <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="903">15:03</a> No I can't
Fun fact: "I still haven't watched the 3rd one, despite already being 5 years from my goal of watching it." .-. Kid me really said after the 2nd came out, I'll wait 9 years for a 3rd one.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="932">15:32</a> its a bit of a throw-away line, but when Hiccup first gets to the lair where his mother is, theyre walking around and theres a shot of the baby dragons climbing on toothless and Hiccups mother says "the babies dont listen to anyone" Might be worth a rewatch; I can't wait to hear what you think of the 3rd movie! The end and the credits montage get me every time 😭
Hiccup wanting to change drago's so much makes sense with the context of the series. Alvin, dagur and viggo all changed and became geeat allies thanks to their experiences with hiccup and the new era of berk
I agree with Don Bluths idea that kids can handle the heavy, depressing stuff, as long as you have a happy ending. We all saw Littlefoots mom, or Mufasa, or Artax and find them as iconic, memorable scenes from our childoods.
Nobody ever seems to talk about how in the first movie, it was implied that Hiccup's mom had massive boobs, and then the second movie reveals that she's actually a really skinny woman
I will say, there is a couple TV series that happen in between the first and second movies (but they were made after 🤷♀️), so the world is expanded a lot through those. If you watch those, it makes a little more sense. Kinda.
Well Toothless IS based on a black cat! They were going for a completly different design (bit more lizard-y), but then someone on the design team noticed a background picture of someones black cat on the monitor. They decided to base the design on said cat after that!
As a HTTYD RU-vidr, I will state this is the best animated trilogy, with the first two movies perfection and the third, well still a very above average movie, loved the video!
