Best tutorial ever. I've had played this game for years and never thought that Lv 7 CPU and Lv 9 had different DIs...

To newer players: DO *NOT* shffl extensively without an opponent. I did it a shitload and now it's a fucking nightmare trying to get rid of the habit of always pressing L after the fast fall at a certain timing instead of actually pressing L when I'm about to hit the ground (no hitlag vs hitlag). Your L-cancel timing should all times come from visual cues (hitting opponent, hitting opponent with shield, missing opponent). The actual timings are from muscle memory, of course, but which timing is actually picked should *always* be derived from the visual cues. Imo.

I'd say don't play alone extensively, period. People shouldn't train by themselves for hours on end. I see a lot of people commenting that they do this, thinking it'll get them better.
@sadmemeboi
@sadmemeboi 7 лет назад
While that may be true, playing for an hour with a friend vs playing an hour with a friend as well as 10 hours alone, the latter will make you a better player. But yes, playing with a friend is *a lot* better in terms of getting good at smash.

Excellent video. I especially liked the bit about defensive training and not getting hit. I hadn't thought of that before.

Great tutorial, I'm getting better at Melee after playing so much Smash Wii U, and this helps. It's super fun to go back to a game I sucked at as a kid and do decent at it. Thanks

I looooved this video. A loot of the advice in here is actually applicable to the cast in general. I'd would really like to see more material like this in the future.

Instead of erasing names, you can also press A on the name entry field, scroll down to the bottom of your list, press B to get out of the menu, then perform the name entry glitch. This ensures that your cursor starts close to the bottom of your list when you actually try to perform the glitch.

You can also do it in Camera mode if you want the camera not to move, but also want to zoom in closer than it is in Fixed Camera mode.

Thanks for the video man. I am trying to get my Melee skill back after playing so much Smash Wii U. It's like I unlearned everything I learned while playing Melee. With what you just showed me here, I am more confident I can get back in the groove. Thanks!

I do this to practice all my characters, since I don't have the ability to fight humans all the time (either I or my would-be opponents don't have the time), but I didn't know about the level 7 cpu tip. Thanks, that explains why I struggle more with humans sometimes - they don't DI the same way.

You don't need to erase names for the Name Entry Glitch. If you scroll down to the bottom of the list, exit out, and then go back into it, it stays at the bottom.

Going into practice mode and shffling against a CPU set to evade would be my best guess if you're just wanting to practice approaching with shffls. I don't know of a way to make a CPU only shield.

i have a question when ever i jump and try to up air i use my second jump because i hit up in the control stick. how can i stop doing that
@stockshowsuckers
@stockshowsuckers 9 лет назад
D GS If you use the c stick in the air, it'll do an up air. It may be difficult to get used to, but it is well worth it. It is best used for characters who have a spiking down air, because you won't have to worry about accidentally fast falling.

I have a problem. I try to do defensive training, and I cant do it. I go on battlefield as marth with fox and he always catches me moving around with an up air or nair or something (Im doing this on 20xx btw) How are you supposed to improve this? I always lose and I can't seem to not get hit
@tomiikunxd
@tomiikunxd 9 лет назад
+electromagneticlemon practice, wavedashing can help with spacing if you're trying to bait, look out for animation frame lags on fox (if he has any HAHAH), and just book it from there, i guess

@Enedrapvp

Link is like falcon where he needs to space extremely well. But while playing defensive, use projectiles to reduce as many possible options for your opponent to position themselves better.

Wow I made up the camping thing on my own I went all 8 minutes (aside from lasers) against fox and didn't get hid once. It was against a lvl 9 bot so it was pretty tough but it definately helps. Also, what do I do now that I find myself always in my shield instead of playing a little more offensively? I need to find a fix because even if I don't want to, I always end up shielding attacks that aren't even going to hurt, or even worse, the bot doesn't attack so I waste my time. And I do this with Marth's counter someone please help!
@PinkShoesAreSnazzy
@PinkShoesAreSnazzy 9 лет назад
Jake Mitchell Late response, but you were suppose to evade the cpu by remaining on the stage, not on the edge, and without shielding. This way, it helps to keep you mobile and unpredictable.
@jakemitchell3212
@jakemitchell3212 9 лет назад
I did all of that with the exception of the shield, that was hard because it is always really close, but... I usually shield dropped so it was still unpredictable. ~ Thanks man!
